Non-linear Net Engine Torque Estimator for Internal Combustion Engine
No full textAn engine torque estimator, based on sliding mode technique, is proposed in this paper: a switching term, function of the error between the estimated and measured instantaneous engine speed is used to ensure the convergence of the estimation error. This approach provides robustness against the uncertainties of the model and the variations of the parameters during the life of the vehicle. The estimator is then tested with a DI Diesel engine simulator, calibrated with experimental data and realized by the authors. The estimator does not include the combustion process, and this feature make it suitable for any kind of internal combustion engine after a short calibration procedure

No full textIl saggio è costituito da due parti, la prima delle quali, dedicata alla fondazione della Federazione italiana delle biblioteche circolanti cattoliche, è stata pubblicata nel precedente numero dei «Nuovi Annali», XXVII (2013), pp. 137-163. In questa seconda parte viene delineata la figura intellettuale di Giovanni Casati, che diresse la «Rivista di letture» dal 1912 al 1944, trasformando il periodico della Federazione in una rivista impegnata nella divulgazione della cultura cattolica. A questo impegno militante Casati fece corrispondere un intenso programma editoriale, che trovò espressione nella pubblicazione di saggi letterari, di manuali e opere repertoriali.The study consists of two parts; the first is dedicated to the history of the Federazione italiana delle biblioteche circolanti cattoliche since its foundation (1904) up to 1912 and was published in the previous volume of the «Nuovi Annali », XXVII (2013), pp. 137-163. In this second part, the author outlines the intellectual figure of Giovanni Casati, who directed the «Rivista di letture» from 1912 to 1944, transforming the magazine of the Federation in a journal engaged in the spreading of Catholic culture. To this militant engagement Casati matched an intense publishing program, which found its expression in the publication of literary essays, manuals and reference works
Distributed robust output consensus for linear multi-agent systems with input time-varying delays and parameter uncertainties
No full textThis study addresses the leader-tracking problem for linear multi-agent systems in the presence of both parameter model uncertainties and time-varying communication delays. To solve the robust output consensus problem, a delayed distributed proportional–integral–derivative control is proposed and the overall closed-loop stability is proven by exploiting the Lyapunov–Krasovskii theory. Delay-dependent robust stability conditions are given via linear matrix inequalities which allow the proper tuning of robust control gains. The effectiveness of the theoretical derivation is confirmed through a numerical analysis in the practical application domain of cooperative driving for connected vehicles

Il novelliere di Giovanni Sercambi da Lucca non fa eccezione, anche se l’autore non ha una cultura giuridica né s’interessa in modo specifico al diritto. Il presente saggio vuole analizzare sotto tale profilo queste novelle per verificare quale concezione del diritto emerge da esse e come la narrazione ne risulti arricchita.In the late medieval and humanistic novellas, owing to their very realistic character, the right is an important central and inevitable element in community life. Giovanni Sercambi’s novelliere is no exception even if the author lacks a legal culture, nor is specifically interested in right. Nicely Nonlinear Engine Torque Estimator
No full textIn automotive powertrain control strategy, engine torque estimators are preferred to expensive sensors for obvious economic reasons. In the literature several works have been presented proposing both instantaneous engine torque and mean engine torque estimators. The first ones are based on complex models and tipically are suitable for diagnosis purposes, while the latter estimate the torque by means of static maps. In this work, a nonlinear torque estimator for a spark ignition engine has been developed. The total torque acting at the engine shaft has been obtained solving a tracking problem by means of an LQ control strategy. The novel idea is to reduce the nonlinear engine model to a second order Taylor approximation, named a nicely nonlinear model. It is then linearized via feedback and an LQ controller is designed. This approach has been tested on Mid-Size real time dSPACE simulator showing excellent results both for performance and for computational load

No full textThis work presents experimental tests of a vehicle localization system. Based on data collected by a Global Positioning System (GPS), an odometer and a gyrometer, to measure respectively vehicle position, vehicle velocity and yaw velocity, an estimation strategy of the vehicle cover distance is designed. A prototype is then realized in order to test the strategy on urban and extra urban circuits in Benevento (Italy). The experiments are conducted on a Lancia Kappa 2.0 vehicle and the prototype is obtained connecting a dSpace MicroAutoBox electronic control unit with a TomTom Navigator, a gyrometer and the vehicle odometer. The experimental results are here analyzed
