Evaluation of the magnetization direction effects on ferrite PM brushless fractional machines
Permanent magnets are frequently adopted in small brushless machines for automotive applications. Normally anisotropic ferrites, but some research on bonded magnets is being carried on. Several types of magnetization can be proposed, involving different levels of complexity in the magnetization process. In the paper a comparison between parallel and radial magnetization is described, taking into account on one side the major complexity of the radial process and on the other the small power derating of the paralle
A Web-Based Distributed Virtual Educational Laboratory
Evolution and cost of measurement equipment, continuous training, and distance learning make it difficult to provide a complete set of updated workbenches to every student. For a preliminary familiarization and experimentation with instrumentation and measurement procedures, the use of virtual equipment is often considered more than sufficient from the didactic point of view, while the hands-on approach with real instrumentation and measurement systems still remains necessary to complete and refine the student's practical expertise. Creation and distribution of workbenches in networked computer laboratories therefore becomes attractive and convenient. This paper describes specification and design of a geographically distributed system based on commercially standard components
No deportation but no leniency here: Multi-faceted bordered penality in Italy
The chapter delves into Italy's pivotal role as a critical European gateway in the Central Mediterranean, strategically positioned for sea arrivals and transit to Northern and Central Europe. Despite the perceived leniency in its migration enforcement system, marked by discretion and limited deportation, Italy's border control reveals a complexity that goes beyond initial impressions. Focusing on the concept of “bordered penality", the chapter argues that the enforcement system, grappling with the significant presence of non-deportable migrants, leads to a continuous movement among various confinement sites. The authors highlight the inhumane and pervasive control mechanisms experienced by migrants, as they shift between pre-removal detention centres, hotspots, reception centres, and prisons, resulting in differential inclusion. The chapter traces the historical evolution of arrivals in Italy, emphasizing the geopolitical significance and economic labour market implications. It scrutinizes the shortcomings of deportation practices and delineates the continuum of confinement for undeported migrants. Ultimately, the chapter asserts that Italy's bordered penality, encompassing detention and containment practices, effectively responds to the country's unique political, economic, and geopolitical situation
PM fractional machines adopting bonded magnets: effect of different magnetizations on the energetic performance
The adoption of Permanent Magnets in small brushless machines for automotive applications is becoming frequent. Some research on bonded magnets is being carried on to substitute the ferrites. In the paper the parallel and radial magnetizations are considered: the different process complexity levels are analyzed and the effects on the iron losses and the energetic performances are evaluated by means of a simulation analysis and its experimental validatio
Le cisti epatiche. presentazione di un caso e considerazioni anatomo patologiche e clinico-terapeutiche.
[Hepatic cysts: a case report and anatomicopathological and clinico-therapeutic considerations]. G Chir. 1996 Nov-Dec;17(11-12):593-6. Boaretto R, Fornaro R, Bertoglio C, Terrizzi A, Carissimi T, Cambiaso C, Ferraris R.
The recent observation of a case of non-parasitic cyst of the liver brought the authors to a literature review. A 62 year old male, affected by type 2 diabetes and hypertension, after a CT scan and ETG, underwent resection and "capitonnage" of the cyst. Three months after surgery a CT scan showed a complete repletion of the cavity previously occupied by the cyst as a consequence of regeneration and reorganization of the hepatic parenchyma. In conclusion, hepatic cysts are rare
and clinically relevant only when huge. The diagnosis is possible with the use of ETG and CT scan of the abdomen, however, in some cases angiography is also useful. The intervention of choice is the "capitonnage" of the cyst
Low-cost electrochemical impedance spectroscopy system for corrosion monitoring of metallic antiquities and works of art
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is recognized to be a powerful and noninvasive technique to test the integrity of protective coatings on memorials, but commercial EIS systems are rather costly though versatile devices. This paper describes a low cost and portable EIS system that is based on a compact digital signal processor (DSP) board and embeds the potentiostatic function so that it can be used without requiring an external potentiostat. The software that runs on the DSP is designed to analyze the electrochemical impedance only in a reduced frequency range in order to produce a simple corrosion alert result. The device is equipped with a digital interface and can be connected to a personal computer to carry out a complete frequency analysis and perform a more complex data processing
