No full textThe paper reports a research work developed within the international Workshop "Redeveloping the stadium in the city: the Ferraris in Genoa", which explored the thesis that the sports facility, inserted in an urban fabric consolidated as the Marassi District, while considering the new needs and highlighting its potential as a multifunctional service within a system of contemporary public spaces, it can be a positive 'urban catalyst'. For the work on Luigi Ferraris, designed by Gregotti, the criterion of endogenous knowledge was applied as a guideline for the proposals of transformation, not only of the building, but also of the entire urban fabric in which it is inserted: an opportunity to trigger the debate on the "urban stadium" and issues related to history, identity, conservation and design, as an enrichment of wider urban functions

No full textThe use of a copper-squirrel cage in induction motors has been analyzed testing a prototype rated 1.1 kW and comparing the performances with a twin machine with an aluminum cage. The comparison has been made using torque, efficiency, starting torque, and starting current. For the considered machine size, the obtained results show that the simple substitution of the aluminum with copper can improve the efficiency of no more than 1.5% at rated load. Taking into account the copper market cost trend, the use of copper cage increases the break-even time due to the higher cost of copper rotor respect to the aluminum one. No full textL’attività didattica qui presentata nasce da un accordo di collaborazione tra le Scuole del Design del Politecnico di Milano e della Chiba University (Giappone), finalizzato ad organizzare quattro workshop di progetto in cui coinvolgere un gruppo selezionato di studenti e docenti delle rispettive scuole. Nell’arco di tre anni (2013-16) sono stati organizzati due workshop in Giappone e due In Italia.
L’obiettivo alla base della collaborazione tra i partner universitari era di creare delle opportunità di scambio culturale tra i partecipanti, sia studenti che docenti, condividendo approcci e strumenti del progetto di prodotti industriali innovativi. L’attività comprendeva una prima settimana di ricerca svolta dagli studenti autonomamente (dopo aver ricevuto il brief di progetto) e una settimana di progetto intensivo. Mentre la struttura dei workshop è stata sempre la stessa, il partner aziendale è cambiato e, nell’ultimo workshop non è stato presente
