Prescribing by mental health nurses: the UK perspective
No full textPURPOSE. This article aims to discuss the growth of mental health nurse (MHN) prescribing in the United Kingdom as an exemplar for readers to compare progress in their own countries and context. This study also aims to provide a historical overview of this process in the United Kingdom where MHNs prescribe safely and competently.
CONCLUSIONS. Finally, evidence has shown that MHNs with prescriptive authority are competent when prescribing when compared to psychiatrists.
PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS. Despite organizational barriers and educational concerns, MHN prescribing is becoming embedded in the healthcare context in the United Kingdo

No full textEste artículo se acerca a La belleza bruta (2008), de Francisco Font Acevedo, desde dos
ángulos distintos. Se examina la historia de la imagen de la cubierta a través de un texto
aparecido en su blog, La legión miope, para mostrar un aspecto político en la narrativa
del autor. Luego, se comentan aspectos del cuento “Melancolía de un escritor obtuso”
relacionándolo con otros textos del autor para evidenciar conexiones entre escritura y
nociones de orden. Font Acevedo se opone a la imposición de un orden estatal y simpatiza
con expresiones que desafían ese orden, pero su escritura expresa un impulso ordenador.
Este artículo sugiere que esa ambigüedad puede obedecer a que el autor favorezca un
ordenamiento social menos autoritario o al deseo frustrado de una mayor participación
de los sectores intelectuales en la administración del poder político. This article approaches La belleza bruta (2008), by Francisco Font Acevedo, from two different
angles. The history of the image on the cover is examined through a text that
appeared in his blog, La legión miope, in order to highlight a political aspect in the author’s
narrative. Then, aspects of the story “Melancolía de un escritor obtuso” are discussed
and related to other texts by the author, evidencing connections between writing and
notions of order. Font Acevedo opposes the imposition of a state order and sympathizes
with expressions in defiance to that order, but his writing expresses an impulse toward
order. This article suggests that this ambiguity could respond to the author’s preference for a less authoritarian social order or to a frustrated desire for increased participation of
the intellectual sectors in the administration of political power
