Measuring business value and sustainability performance
No full textThe integration of corporate sustainability within operations remains an important and fundamental challenge for business. This paper first consolidates and then builds upon the EABIS-supported activities of Cranfield School of Management with business practitioners. It focuses on the performance and evaluation criteria relating to determining corporate responsibility (CR) value.
The paper begins by categorising components of CR in terms of decision-making levels and business case requirements. It then describes a methodology for establishing CR issues with the prioritisation of stakeholders before linking this relationship onto business benefits and shareholder value drivers. Using illustrated models and worked examples, sections within the paper provide further practical advice and guidance for developing and populating elements within the framework. Additional sections then complement the application of the CR Value-chain framework, with a chapter on performance measurement that explores the key performance measure characteristics required to underpin the performance element of the framework. The final chapter describes decision-making support tools, such as financial appraisals and risk evaluations, which also underpin the shareholder value approach and should be integrated within this corporate sustainability value management framework.
A key purpose of this approach is to support the integration of sustainability performance management processes and systems within business practice. It explores methods for making more explicit the issues surrounding CR and financial value. It also provides useful approaches for helping businesses select, measure and evaluate performance for internal CR strategies, policies and processes. Some analytical methods are considered for identifying the costs and benefits from sustainability-related issues, projects and new ventures, including discussions with regard to harmonising existing business functions.

No full textIn the enormous collection of cross-cultural data that have been published during the last few decades it is difficult to perceive patterns. There is a clear need for systematizing the vast amount of cross-cultural studies and for developing models that explain cross-cultural differences in psychology. Two methods of cross-cultural meta-analysis can be distinguished. First, the instrument-based method of comparing data for one instrument across countries is suitable for instruments which have been administered in many countries. Second, a domain-based meta-analysis used a thematic domain from which culture-comparative studies are sampled instead of one specific instrument or method

A large-scale biomass bulk terminal

Various issues regarding the conceptual design of such a terminal have been investigated and demonstrated in this research: the potential biomass materials that will be the major international trade flows in the future, the characteristics of these potential biomass materials, the interaction between the material properties and terminal equipment, the perspective from terminal logistic process, and the terminal configuration. To this day no such a terminal exists yet. No full textQuesto articolo nasce dall’unione delle relazioni tenute dall’autore nel corso dei convegni “Langobardorum Nummorum Doctrina” (2018) e “In Sanctorum Nummis Effigies” (2019). Dopo un’attenta ricerca viene mostrato il percorso dell’iconografia micaelica nella monetazione medievale e il suo cammino attraverso l’Europa. L’effige del santo raffigurata in primis dai Gepidi e poi da Longobardi e Bizantini, si diffonderà in tutta l’Europa medievale, dal Regno di Sicilia fino alla Danimarca. Il lavoro, frutto non solo di una ricerca numismatica, ma anche storica e artistica, vuole essere un punto di partenza di uno studio più complesso che l’autore sta compiendo sulla raffigurazione del santo nelle monete medievali.This article was born from the union of the reports given by the author during the conferences “Langobardorum Nummorum Doctrina” (2018) and “In Sanctorum Nummis Effigies” (2019). After careful research, the path of Michaelic iconography in medieval coinage and its journey through Europe is demonstrated. The effigy of the saint depicted primarily by the Gepids, and then by the Lombards and the Byzantines, spread throughout medieval Europe, from the Kingdom of Sicily to Denmark. This work, the result not only of numismatic but also of historical and artistic research, is intended to be a starting point for a more complex study that the author is carrying out on the depiction of the saint in medieval coins
