Bethany Fellows (Art Forum)
Bethany J Fellows, was born in Tucson, Arizona and lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.
She graduated with a BFA from the University of Newcastle (2004) and recently completed her honours at Monash University (2010). Her practice is often participatory and usually cited in public and non-traditional space.
Gift giving is used in her arts practice to emphasise the importance of relationships with people and place, as a cultural critique and as a metaphorical device for various things. Her work involves fleeting exchanges with others and frequently employs humour and food to highlight and exploit the tension of hospitable interactions with people and the unknown. She will be discussing her evolving practice and her often obsessive and bizarre interest
