Survival Rate of Zygomatic Implants for Fixed Oral Maxillary Rehabilitations: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Comparing Outcomes between Zygomatic and Regular Implants

    No full text
Background: Zygomatic implants have been proposed alone or in combination with premaxillary conventional implants for severe resorbed maxillary atrophy rehabilitation. The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate through a qualitative systematic review and meta-analysis the survival rate of zygomatic implants in conjunction with regular fixtures for maxillary rehabilitation. Methods: The article screening was conducted on the PubMed/Medline and EMBASE electronic databases according to the “Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses” (PRISMA) guidelines. The scientific papers were included for qualitative analysis and risk-of-bias evaluation. Only the papers that included rehabilitation with zygomatic implants in combination with regular implants were considered for the meta-analysis comparative evaluation of the implant survival rate. Results: The paper search screened a total of 137 papers. After the initial screening, a total of 32 articles were considered for the qualitative analysis. There was a similar implant survival rate between zygomatic and premaxilla regular implants (p = 0.02; Z: 2.26). Conclusions: Zygomatic and conventional implants showed a high long-term survival rate for fixed maxillary rehabilitations, but few included studies reported the marginal bone loss after loading. Further studies are necessary to evaluate the pattern of marginal bone loss between zygomatic and conventional implants after long-term functional loading

Layer-dependent electronic and magnetic properties of Nb3I8

    No full text
The discovery of intrinsic two-dimensional magnetism has ignited intense research interest due to the several and attractive applications in spintronics. Nb3I8 is a recently investigated van der Waals material, exhibiting ferromagnetism and extraordinary visible light-harvesting ability in monolayer form, besides useful remarkable features for the realization of future high-performance nanodevices. Here we use density functional theory and classical Monte Carlo simulations to investigate the electronic and magnetic properties of Nb3I8 in bulk, monolayer, and some multilayer (bilayer and trilayer) forms. Two suitable vdW exchange-correlation functionals, vdW-DF2-C09 and rev-vdW-DF2, have been chosen to compare the first-principles calculation predictions. The layer number directly influences the ground-state magnetism, indicating the possibility of using the thickness as a parameter to control the magnetic response of the material. In particular, it is possible to switch on the antiferromagnetism by adding one or two layers to the ferromagnetic monolayer. This makes Nb3I8 an excellent platform for spintronics applications. Monte Carlo simulations based on a third-nearest-neighbor Ising model provide a Curie temperature close to room temperature (similar to 307 K) for the monolayer. The results on the electronic and magnetic properties render the two-dimensional Nb3I8 an ideal and promising candidate for future research and applications

Among the issues related to the use of a new type of detection instrument in a field of investigation where accuracy is critical as the archaeological covered the analysis of a particular case study: the???Arco Felice??? in Cuma, evaluating the advantages that such technology could carry. The article describes a method for detection through the use of laser scanners, the subsequent data processing and dissemination of the results of an archaeological site on the Internet, the ???Arco Felice??? and a small stretch of the Via Cumana still kept that 'crossing, located in the Campi Flegrei. Describes the instrumentation used, the operations of detection and the entire workflow, from data acquisition to the preparation of the documentation to model the spread of the network through the use of a specific server

    Bisogna immaginare l'esiliato felice

Tunable electronic and magnetic properties of thin Nb3_3I8_8 nanofilms: interplay between strain and thickness

    No full text
The study of novel 2D platforms implementing magnetism in tunable van der Waals (vdW) homo- and hetero-structures paves the way to innovative spintronics and magnetic devices. In this study, we unravel the intriguing properties of few-layer Nb3_3I8_8 vdW nanofilms from first principles, showing how and to what extent specific magnetic orderings can be tuned using several degrees of freedom, such as film thickness, stacking geometry, and strain or even a combination of them. All these aspects are explored here, giving a comprehensive view of this novel and promising magnetic material
