No full textIn 1909, after having projected the first reinforced concrete factory in Detroit (Packard Building n. 10), Albert Kahn (1869-1942) is introduced to Henry Ford (1863-1947). From the joint work of those two self-made-men, an industrial capitalist and a promising architect, derives a revolutionary way of considering mass production and industrial architecture. The text examines the most innovative aspects of Albert Kahn work, that are the organization of designing following the hints given by Henry Ford in his factory organization. Federico Bucci, author of the book Albert Kahn: Architect of Ford (Princeton Architectural Press, New York 1994), inquires into the methods of work organization applied in the Albert Kahn Inc., that acquired enormous importance during the II World War climate

No full textThis volume is dedicated to the 565 Broome Street skyscraper, the first residential building conceived by Renzo Piano and designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in the city of New York. Developed by Bizzi & Partners, the double tower occupies a corner space in the SoHo district, close to the Hudson River.
Rich and fascinating iconography and a text by Federico Bucci and Carol Willis describe the design, the main features of the building, and how it relates to the city and the light that surrounds it in a unique way.
The photographic selection is divided into thematic chapters, starting from the representation of the building’s urban context and then illustrating the different parts of the project, the formal and structural characteristics of the towers, and the interiors. It also describes the contemporary artwork by Susumu Shingu that occupies the space between the towers

Musei e allestimenti", curata da Federico Bucci e Augusto Rossari e promossa dal Dipartimento di Progettazione dell’Architettura del Politecnico di Milano, presenta una parte significativa dell’attività progettuale dell’architetto e docente milanese, in occasione del centenario della sua nascita. La mostra è stata preparata con un lavoro di studio nell’archivio Albini (messo a disposizione dal figlio Marco Albini), raccogliendo in serie storica e selezionando i migliori esiti dell’attività dell’architetto milanese nel campo degli allestimenti, dai primi padiglioni fieristici degli anni trenta ai grandi musei degli anni cinquanta e sessanta. La mostra vuole portare alla conoscenza di un ampio pubblico le particolari qualità dello spazio espositivo progettato da Albini, intenso come luogo denso di magiche atmosfere definite partendo da razionali intenti didattic

No full textThis work intends to underline how a stereotyped vision of the female world and capabilities still influences women’s roles in the labor market, from the choice of specialties in which to graduate to the real possibilities that arise within the enrollment in academic ranks of the University.
For this reason, the four speeches building the paper intend to offer an insight into the role of women by analyzing the lack of participation in studies of STEM subjects; the difficult relationship with a University that still approaches with a male mentality; the need to find teaching methods and strategies that are able to overcome an "obvious" way of seeing the world of female study and work and offering, finally, a review of statistical data relating to the role of women in the STEM student world and in building labor market
