No full textThe oldest, and still the most popular philosophical theory of laughter, is the Superiority theory, arguing that laughter is a uniquely-human behavior triggered by a feeling of superiority. Similar to other influential theories of laughter, however, the superiority theory should be better defined as a theory of humor, hence unable to account for the several non-humoristic, social contexts where typically laughter is tipically produced. In this paper we present an alternative approach to laughter, grounded on semiotics and ethology. We argue that laughter is, first and foremost, a means for social bonding and communication that evolved for boosting basic forms of affiliation. We provide psychological, neuroscientific and ethological evidence supporting such Social-bonding theory of laughter. Finally, we show how the cases prototypically discussed by supporters of the Superiority theory can be interpreted as a peculiar type of exaptation of laughter, as defined by the Social-bonding theory

No full textIn this paper, we will introduce and discuss a Social Interaction Theory of Laughter, focusing our attention on both the continuities and discontinuities between human and animal laughter. We claim that laughter does not have to be studied from a starting point that prioritises humor, but rather from a theory of emotions able to provide an account of the constructing of social bonds. We will show how there are two main kind of laughter and we will focus on the “semiotic laughter”, the type of the laughter that can be used in order to lie. Starting from Umberto Eco’s theory that connects laughter with death and language, we claim that laughter is a protologos able to shape social interactions in a very unique way. We will also explain why, according to a theory grounded upon a deep continuity between animal and human laughter, it has been claimed that laughter is typical of mankind. Our answer lies in the special relationship between pathe and logos that exits inside human institutions, where emotions have to be modulated under the aegis of the logos

No full text[EN] The Master Final Project consists in the elaboration of a structural project of a sports building located in Sagunto. In addition, there will be an outside parking on one side of the building. The building must have a large diaphanous surface to covered Olympic pool. The main structure consists of wooden principal beams and secondary beams, concrete pillars and is braced with secondary beams and cables, also the joints between the structural elements are designed.[CA] El treball Fi de Màster consisteix en la elaboració de un projecte estructural de un edifici d'ús esportiu ubicat a Sagunt. Al costat de l'edifici es va a disposar un aparcament en superficie. L'edifici necessita una gran superficie diàfana per a poder albergar una piscina olímpica coberta. L'estructura principal consisteix en bigues y correjes de fusta, pilars de formigó i es troba arriostrat amb les correjes i cables, també es dimensiona les unions entre els elements estructurals.[ES] El Trabajo Final de Master consiste en la elaboración de un proyecto estructural de un edificio de uso deportivo situado en Sagunto. Además, se va a disponer un aparcamiento en superficie a un lado del edificio. El edificio deberá tener una gran superficie diáfana para albergar una piscina olímpica cubierta.
