Sources persanes et sanscrites sur la théorie et l'histoire de la musique de l'Inde
Full recording of a seminar held at the Department of music, Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi, India) on 25-27 March 1985. The aim of this seminar was to initiate a dialogue between two experts of Indian music history working from Sanskrit and Persian sources, resp. Dr. Prem Lata Sharma, the head of the Department of music in BHU, and Dr. Shahab Sarmadee, a fellow of the Department of history at Aligarh Muslim University. Born in 1914, the latter had been engaged by the International Society for Traditional Arts Research (ISTAR) on the first English translation of Faquirullah's Mankutuhal and Rag Darpan.La grabación completa de un seminario en el Departamento de Música, Banaras Hindu University (Benarés, India) los días 25-27 de marzo de 1985. British Rule in the Subcontinent, Literary Movements, and the Authors of the Partition Period: Qudrat Ullah Shahab
Due to the rapid development of events since the 19th century alongside the British rule of the Indian subcontinent, genres such as novels and short stories were left out of Urdu literature. At that time, poetry had a great influence on mobilizing the masses, and a poetry-oriented trend had occurred in Urdu literature. However, at the beginning of the 20th century when Qudrat Ullah Shahab lived, an important Urdu literature writer and subject of the article, stories and novels are seen to have gained popularity alongside the poetry genre. Although prose had come about from Western literary figures in this period, these writers had dealt with stories specific to their own regions. As the people found their lives in these works, prose also consolidated its place in literature. Qudrat Ullah Shahab lived between 1920-1986, the period thatwitnessed the division of Pakistan and India, and succeeded in reflecting the painful life stories of this period in his stories as best he could. This study aims to introduce the life, literary personality, and works of Qudrat Ullah Shahab as one of the important writers of the Indian subcontinent who lived through the Partition period and was especially famous for his autobiography titled Shahabnama. Before talking about the author in this context, mentioning the situation of the subcontinent and the literary movements regarding the types of prose in his period would be appropriate

simulations corresponding to the applied COMIDs, the following R-script will extract NWM simulated
streamflow at a single or multiple NHDPlus lines (i.e. a single COMID or multiple COMIDs) and will export a
CSV table named as NHDPlus COMID, e.g. "22473367_streamflow.csv".</p>
<p>Description - PART 2:
After executing PART 1, PART 2 would be used to extract the maximum record of the streamflow time-series
associated with a single or multiple COMIDs. These extremum records associated with a single or multiple
COMIDs will be saved as CSV file named as "All_streamflow.csv" at the assigned working directory.</p>

What is Islam ? de Shahab Ahmed (1966-2015)
L’islamologie s’est souvent arrêtée à la question que nous retrouvons dans le titre de cet ouvrage. Était-il dès lors nécessaire d’ajouter ces 600 pages aux nombreuses études qui la concernent ? C’est en le parcourant avec attention que l’on se rend compte que Shahab Ahmed apporte une contribution notoire. En effet, il aborde le sujet d’un point de vue particulier, très peu étudié, presque inédit : il s’agit du monde islamique de langue persane, ottomane et ourdoue, et non pas arabe, qui s’étend de le Méditerranée jusqu’au golfe du Bengale sur la période 1350 à 1850. Ce monde a intégré la philosophie aristotélicienne, celle des voies soufies de l’illumination et de l’unité de l’existence, tout en développant les sources historiques de l’islam, pour construire un monde humain propre. L’auteur confronte ses analyses à de nombreuses méthodes d’anthropologues célèbres qui ont étudié la religion islamique à partir des catégories de pré-Texte, de Texte et de con-Texte. Passionnant, l’ouvrage n’est pas sans difficultés, à commencer par une certaine universalisation du monde islamique particulier qu’il décrit.Islamic studies have often focused on the question posed in the title of this book. Was it therefore necessary to add these 600 pages to the many studies that attempt to answer it? It is only by carefully reading this book that one realizes how significant Shahab Ahmed’s contribution is. Indeed, he deals with the issue from a particular point of view which has received very little scholarly attention: the Persian, Turkish Ottoman, and Urdu (not Arabic) speaking Islamic world, which extends from the Mediterranean to the Bay of Bengal, over the period of 1350 to 1850. This world has integrated Aristotelian philosophy, Sufi thought on enlightenment and the unity of existence, while, at the same time, building on the historical sources of Islam to shape a human world all its own. Elaborating on the categories of pre-Text, Text, and con-Text, the author compares his analyses with that of many famous anthropological scholars who studied Islam before him. Exciting as it is, the book does not come without its difficulties, such as a generalization of the specific Islamic world it describes.ركّزتْ الدراسات الإسلاميّة على السؤال عينه المطروح في عنوان هذا الكتاب. ومن ثَمَّ هل كان من الضروريّ إضافة هذه الصفحات الستّمائة إلى تلك الدراسات العديدة للإجابة عليه؟ فقط من خلال قراءة هذا الكتاب بعنايةٍ ندرك مدى أهمّيّة مساهمة د. شهاب أحمد في هذه الإشكاليّة حيث أنّه يتعامل مع القضيّة من وجهة نظر لم تحظَ إلّا باهتمامٍ علميّ ضئيل للغاية: العالم الإسلاميّ الناطق بالفارسيّة والتركيّة العثمانيّة والأورديّة (وليس بالعربيّة)، والّذي يمتدّ من البحر الأبيض المتوسّط إلى خليج البنغال، خلال الفترة من ١٣٥٠ حتّى ١٨٥٠. لقد دمج هذا العالم الإسلاميّ الفلسفة الأرسطيّة وفلسفة الإشراق عند الصوفيّة ونظريّة وحدة الوجود مع التراث الإسلاميّ الأصيل، لبناء حضارةٍ خاصّة به. انطلاقًا من مفاهيم «ما قبل النصّ » و«النصّ » و«ما حول النصّ »، يقارن المؤلّف تحليلاته بنتائج العديد من علماء الأنثروبولوجيّا المشهورين الّذين درسوا الإسلام قبله. ولا يأتي هذا الكتاب المثير دون صعوباتٍ، مثل التعميم الّذي يطبّقه المؤلّف على العالم الإسلاميّ أجمع بناءً على وصفه لهذا العالم الخاصّ جدًّا
Liquid-based stationary phase for deterministic lateral displacement separation in microfluidics
Deterministic lateral displacement (DLD) is a promising separation scheme in microfluidic systems. In traditional DLD, a periodic array of solid posts induces the separative migration of suspended particles moving through the system. Here, we present a radical departure from traditional DLD systems and use an array of anchored liquid-bridges as the stationary phase in the DLD device. The liquid-bridges are created between two parallel plates and anchored to the bottom one by cylindrical wells. We show that the non-linear particle dynamics observed in traditional DLD systems is also present in the anchored-liquid case, enabling analogous size-based separation of suspended particles. The use of liquid-bridges as the stationary phase presents additional possibilities in separation technologies, potentially eliminating or significantly reducing clogging, enabling renewable and/or reconfigurable systems, allowing a different set of fabrication methods and providing alternative ways to separate particles based on their interaction with liquid–liquid interfaces. Some of these advantages could also extend to filtration methods based on similar liquid-based stationary phases.Peer reviewe
Scintigraphic evaluation of Kienbock's disease in comparison to Plain radiography
Abstract
Kienbock’s disease is a rare pathology of uncertain etiology, resulting in osteonecrosis of lunate bone. The authors present interesting images for comparison of both plain radiography and bone scan findings done in a young male laborer.

Feasibility Study of Quasi-Optical MIMO Antennas for Radiative Near-Field Links
This article presents a feasibility study of single feed per beam quasi-optical (QO) antennas for enabling incoherent multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) array front-end architectures at 270 GHz. The objective is to reach ultrafast and radiated energy efficient point-to-point (PtP) wireless links by exploiting the multimode capacity of radiative (Fresnel region) near-field links. In this article, we present a feasibility study of the number of independent links achievable with QO MIMO incoherent arrays. For this purpose, we present theoretical curves of the level of EM co-coupling and interference between the multiple modes versus the link distance. The study focuses at the 252-325 GHz spectral bandwidth defined by the new IEEE 802.15.3d standard. A specific and new MIMO array architecture operating at 270 GHz based on a 2 × 2 array of parabolic reflectors is proposed for a link distance of 100 m. The proposed PtP MIMO system is capable of generating 16 dual-polarized modes in a 70 GHz bandwidth with signal-to-interference ratio >17 dB and a power co-coupling coefficient of -3 dB without the need for interference cancelation techniques. Combining this architecture with wideband front ends could potentially lead to an aggregated data rate in the order of terabit per second in a PtP wireless line-of-sight link, not previously achieved experimentally to the best of authors' knowledge.
