Keep Moving Forward
No full textKeep Moving Forward is a story written in the inspiration of author Charles Bukowski, specifically in spirit of Ham On Rye. Similarly to that novel, this story is written in the form of dirty realism, with an intended audience of young adults. This coming of age story follows the youth of Lily Torres, who is simply looking for happiness. Or at least some means of satisfaction. But things don't always work out that way in life, especially not for Lily. Throughout this story, readers follow the everyday struggles Lily is brought up against. Abandoned by her friends, mistreated by her lovers and forgotten about by her family, Lily is forced to learn the lessons of friendship, love and trust. It's through these learning lessons that she finally accepts that she can only keep moving forward

Restituir desde el silencio: Nela, 1979 de Juan Trejo como relato de filiación y crónica transicional
No full textThis article analyzes Nela, 1979 by Juan Trejo as a paradigmatic case of the narrative of affiliation within the framework of transitional literatures. Based on a family microhistory marked by silence, addiction, and loss, it examines how the author reconstructs the absent figure of his older sister, who died in 1979, as part of a postmemorial exercise. Trejo's work is inserted into a narrative tradition that, through archives, subjective research, and the rewriting of trauma, seeks to reconstitute not only an individual story but also the latent tensions in Spain's democratic Transition. The analysis places this chronicle at the intersection of autofiction, testimony, and documentary writing, and in dialogue with the conceptual frameworks of postmemory, the narrative of affiliation, and post-dictatorial political melancholy.Este artigo analisa Nela, 1979, de Juan Trejo, como um caso paradigmático do relato de filiação no contexto das literaturas transicionais. A partir de uma micro-história familiar atravessada pelo silêncio, o vício e a perda, examinam-se as formas pelas quais o autor reconstrói a figura ausente de sua irmã mais velha, falecida em 1979, como parte de um exercício pós-memorial. A obra de Trejo insere-se em uma tradição narrativa que, por meio do arquivo, da investigação subjetiva e da reescrita do trauma, busca reconstituir não apenas uma história individual, mas também as tensões latentes na Transição democrática espanhola. A análise situa esta crônica na encruzilhada entre autoficção, testemunho e escrita documental, em diálogo com os marcos conceituais da pós-memória, da narrativa de filiação e da melancolia política pós-ditatorial.Este artículo analiza Nela, 1979, de Juan Trejo, como un caso paradigmático del relato de filiación en el marco de las literaturas transicionales. A partir de una microhistoria familiar atravesada por el silencio, la adicción y la pérdida, se examinan los modos en que el autor reconstruye la figura ausente de su hermana mayor, fallecida en 1979, como parte de un ejercicio posmemorial. Gastronomía y Diplomacia La relación internacional perfecta
No full textThe following study is divided into two main parts, the first ones is an independent study that explains how Culinary Arts influence International Relations, this influence is explained using two theories of International relations, Public Diplomacy and Social Constructivism; furthermore a in deep analysis about the history of Culinary Arts, Diplomacy and Protocol. The three histories are related and influence each other.
The second part is based on the menu: “Gastronomia y Diplomacia: La relacion internacional perfecta”; which was available in the restaurant Marcus at Universidad San Francisco de Quito from September 11th until September 16th 2012. The menu was composed by food of four different cuisines: Russia, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and the United States of America; the four cuisines where chosen by the author Juan Trejo who was able to give balance to the four cuisines, which was recognized by the degustation panel, as a balanced menu all thou the difference of flavors and textures.El siguiente estudio esta divido en dos partes, la primera un marco teórico el cual explica la influencia que mantiene la Gastronomía dentro de las Relaciones Internacionales, esta influencia es explicada con dos teorías de Relaciones Internacionales, la Diplomacia Pública y el Constructivismo Social; además se hace un amplio análisis de la historia del Arte Culinario, la Diplomacia y el Protocolo de mesa. Las tres historias se relacionan y se puede ver claramente como las tres historias se relacionan y se influencian una a otra.
La segunda parte está basada en el menú: “Gastronomía y Diplomacia: La relación internacional perfecta”, que salió a la venta en el restaurante Marcus de la Universidad San Francisco de Quito del martes 11 septiembre 2012 al domingo 16 septiembre 2012. Dicho menú está conformado por 4 países de distinta gastronomía: Rusia, Vietnam, Arabia Saudita y Estados Unidos de América; los 4 países fueron escogidos por el autor Juan Trejo quien logro dar un balance a las 4 cocinas; reconocido por el panel de degustación, como un menú balanceado a pesar de su diferencia de sabores y texturas
