Coscienza e religione in Hobbes: una prospettiva etico-politica
No full textLa ricerca intende approfondire, in primo luogo, il controverso rapporto di Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679) con la religione. Sulla base di un'analisi della nozione hobbesiana di coscienza, fortemente correlata al tema della religione, il lavoro mette quindi in luce cosa può suggerire, in prospettiva, una rilettura del pensiero hobbesiano e della sua concezione religiosa - e in particolare della sua descrizione di coscienza - in merito a questioni che impregnano la nostra quotidianità, interrogando gli esseri umani sul rapporto tra religione e vita pubblica. Analizzando poi il transito di queste tematiche nell'etica contemporanea, la ricerca prova a enucleare alcuni punti di contatto su cui poter sviluppare un confronto sensato e fruttuoso tra il pensiero di un grande classico della modernità qual è Hobbes e le preoccupazioni del nostro tempo, riguardo a temi come la vita, il fine vita e la sessualità, che inevitabilmente coinvolgono il ruolo della coscienza nello spazio pubblico

No full textThis case deals with the first diagnosis of Type B cystinuria with cystine nephrolithiasis in a 72-year-old male. Cystinuria is an inherited disease that consists of congenital abnormalities of renal and intestinal transport of dibasic amino acids. It often leads to frequent recurrent stone formation. Cystine stones most frequently occur in the 1st through 3rd decades of life with a decreased incidence in old age. This case shows that the first diagnosis of cystinuria may be made even in the 8th decade, without any family history, and in a patient with a history of recurrent calcium stone disease. Therefore, the chance of cystinuria must be always considered, even in older calcium stone formers

No full textL’ipotesi di questo saggio è che il modo contraddittorio in cui Marx si confronta con la condizione delle donne sia una prospettiva privilegiata per leggere il suo pensiero in movimento. Esso rivela il campo di tensione tra natura e storia con cui egli si scontra nel tentativo di approdare a una comprensione della storia come processo e come scienza che lo indaga. Seguendo questo problema alla luce delle indicazioni di alcune femministe che si sono confrontate con Marx – Simone de Beauvoir, Shulamith Firestone e Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak ‒ saranno quindi individuati tre nodi cruciali che qualificano il suo discorso sulle donne: in primo luogo, una discontinuità storica, che segna il passaggio dalla loro identificazione con la procreazione alla comprensione della loro posizione differente nella società capitalistica. In secondo luogo, un’analisi della famiglia come costante storica, che non solo determina la posizione subalterna delle donne nella società, ma permette anche di fare luce sullo specifico regime di storicità del capitale. Infine, la sua concezione della storia quando si confronta con la riproduzione sociale, in relazione alla quale la critica dell’ideologia patriarcale diventa politicamente centrale e la presenza delle donne si rivela un problema e una possibilità nella costituzione della classe operaia come forza ostile

No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

It was established specifically for urban Jewish garment workers, many of whom had emigrated from Europe. President John F. Kennedy sent a telegram to the citizens of Roosevelt, New Jersey, apologizing for not being able to attend the memorial dedication in honor of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. (Jersey Homesteads became Roosevelt in 1945 in honor of the president.) President Kennedy expressed his gratitude to the people of Roosevelt for constructing the memorial, and commented that it will serve as a constant reminder of Roosevelt's good works
