Finding Hy-Brasil: The Gateway Between Reality And Unreality
Through Irish history, different spiritual demands in specific historical moments impacts on the legends of Hy-Brasil. In turn, the stories of Hy-Brasil reflects the history of Ireland through its possible position, appearances, items events, viewpoints gateways and monuments. The project is to use the history of Hy-Brasil, a mystical island of Ireland, to explore the architecture of myth, which are expected to be triggered and formed by the current situation of Ireland. It looks to design a pragmatic space by providing a gateway to the mythic island of Hy-Brasil. A 5-GHz fully integrated low-power wide-tuning-range CMOS LC VCO
[[abstract]]A 5-GHz-band monolithic LC differential voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with low-power consumption and wide-tuning-range was designed and implemented using a standard 0.18-mu m CMOS technology. Low-power consumption is achieved by maximizing the equivalent parallel resistance of the LC tank, while wide-tuning-range is achieved by minimizing the summed parasitic capacitance of the differential inductor and the cross-coupled PMOS transistors pair. The LC VCO achieves a wide-tuning-range of 14.1% (from 4.95 to 5.7 GHz) with a low-power dissipation of 1.5 mW. The measured phase noise is -111.1 dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset. The corresponding figure-of-merit (FOM') of the VCO is -166.8 dBc/Hz, which is comparable with, or even better than, those of the reported state-of-the-art CMOS LC VCOs in 5-GHz-band. Walnut-Derived Peptide Activates PINK1 via the NRF2/KEAP1/HO-1 Pathway, Promotes Mitophagy, and Alleviates Learning and Memory Impairments in a Mice Model
Mitophagy has a pivotal protective function in the pathogenesis of neurological disorders. However, the mechanism of its modulation remains elusive, especially in PINK1-mediated mitophagy. Here, we investigated the neuroprotective effects of a walnut-derived peptide, YVLLPSPK, against scopolamine-induced cognitive deficits in mice and explored the underlying PINK1-mediated mitophagy mechanisms in H2O2-treated HT-22 cells. Using the Morris water maze, we showed that YVLLPSPK relieved the cognitive deficiency by alleviating oxidative stress. Mitochondrial morphology was observed in mice hippocampal tissues using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Both Western blot and immunofluorescence analysis illustrated YVLLPSPK promoted the expression of mitophagy-related proteins and activated the NRF2/KEAP1/HO-1 pathway. Subsequently, an NRF2 inhibitor (ML385) was used to verify the contribution of the YVLLPSPK-regulated NRF2/KEAP1/HO-1 pathway in PINK1-mediated mitophagy in H2O2-treated HT-22 cells. These data suggested that YVLLPSPK improved learning and memory in scopolamine-induced cognitive-impaired mice through a mechanism associated with PINK1-mediated mitophagy via the NRF2/KEAP1/HO-1 pathway
