Greening Wakanda. Le geografie dell'eco-urbanismo in Black Panther
No full textIl genere solarpunk, nato nel 2008 per contestare esplicitamente le narrazioni distopiche di un futuro in stile cyberpunk, dopo aver fatto riferimento per anni a film di animazione come Princess Mononoke di Hayao Miyazaki ha trovato in Black Panther (2018) e nel suo più recente seguito Wakanda Forever (2022), entrambi diretti da Ryan Coogler, una trasposizione cinematografica che lega insieme le questioni ambientali a temi di forte impatto sociale, incarnati da movimenti come Black Lives Matter e da riflessioni critiche sul futuro del continente africano.
Attraverso l’analisi visuale di alcune immagini dei film, ma anche di alcune tavole dei fumetti Marvel da cui Coogler ha preso ispirazione, il contributo si propone di concettualizzare le tematiche più importanti per l’ecologia politica, concentrandosi in particolare sul ruolo della nazione fittizia del Wakanda, analizzata anche attraverso le chiavi di lettura della geopolitica popolare.The solarpunk genre, born in 2008 to explicitly contest the dystopian narratives of a cyberpunk-style future, after having referred for years to animated films such as Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, has found in Black Panther (2018) and its more recent sequel Wakanda Forever (2022), both directed by Ryan Coogler, a cinematic transposition that ties together environmental issues with themes of strong social impact, embodied by movements such as Black Lives Matter and critical reflections on the future of the African continent.
Through the visual analysis of some images from the films, but also of some Marvel comic book plates from which Coogler took inspiration, the contribution aims to conceptualise the most important issues for political ecology, focusing in particular on the role of the fictional nation of Wakanda, also analysed through the keys of popular geopolitics

An Entomoculia ascribable to the nominal subgenus for its robust build, the presence of chitinized thickenings on the male genital segment and for the characters of the male and female genitalia; welldifferentiated from its congeners by the conformation of the aedeagus and female copulatory plates. Type locality. SW Sardinia, Medio Campidano prov., Villacidro, San Sisinnio. Type series. Holotype ♂: “SW Sardinia, Villacidro (Medio Campidano), San Sisinnio, 250 m, 2.I.1987, leg. P. Leo ” (MSNG). Paratypes: Villacidro (Medio Campidano prov.), San Sisinnio, 250 m, 8.V.1986, leg. P. Leo, 3 ♂♂ and 1 ♀ (2 ♂♂ and 1 ♀ CLF-PL, 1 ♂ CNBFVR); 2.I.1987, leg. P. Leo, 2 ♀ (CLF-PL); 15.III.1987, leg. P. Leo, 1 ♀ (CLF-PL); 9.XII.1989, leg. P. Leo, 1 ♂ and 1 ♀ (CLF-PL); 24.IV.1990, leg. P. Leo, 1 ♂ (CLF-PL). Description. Total length 1.00–1.10 mm. Head shiny, with diverging edges, distinctly widening posteriorly, and with inconspicuous frontal carinas; microreticulation faint, punctuation strong and sparse. Pronotum about as long as wide, shiny, with imperceptible microreticulation; punctuation slightly thinner than on head and slightly sparser; median longitudinal dimples lacking. Elytra shiny with imperceptible microsculpture and scattered punctuation. Aedeagus as in Fig. 10, with sternal lamina strongly bending downward, short, robust and tapering at apex. Female genital armature complex, structured as in Fig. 11. Observations. Entomoculia melonii sp. nov. is clearly separable from all congeners by the genital characters of both sexes. Ecological notes. The type specimens were found in samples taken at the base of old olive trees. The sampling locality is situated on argilloschist Palaeozoic soil. No other endogean beetles were collected together with the new species. Etymology.
