Follow-up Extension Up to 43 Years of Modified Osteo-Odonto-Keratoprosthesis
The osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis is a biological corneal prosthesis (KPro), introduced by Strampelli in 1964. It uses an osteodental lamina as a biological haptic derived from an autologous
mono-radicular tooth. An acrylic optical cylinder at the center of the lamina replaces the cornea, and the resulting osteo-dentalacrylic lamina is preferably covered by autologous buccal mucosa
or, if not available, by skin. In 2005, Falcinelli et al2 proposed several advances to the original surgical technique, the so-called modified osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis (MOOKP), reporting
favorable results in a large cohort of patients who underwent surgery between 1973 and 1999 and followed up to 25 years.2 This study aimed at extending the follow-up of the same cohort
of patients, providing further evidence about long-term anatomic and functional outcomes of the MOOKP technique

Le «buone letture». 2. Giovanni Casati
The study consists of two parts; the first is dedicated to the history of the Federazione italiana delle biblioteche circolanti cattoliche since its foundation (1904) up to 1912 and was published in the previous volume of the «Nuovi Annali », XXVII (2013), pp. 137-163. In this second part, the author outlines the intellectual figure of Giovanni Casati, who directed the «Rivista di letture» from 1912 to 1944, transforming the magazine of the Federation in a journal engaged in the spreading of Catholic culture. To this militant engagement Casati matched an intense publishing program, which found its expression in the publication of literary essays, manuals and reference works
In the late medieval and humanistic novellas, owing to their very realistic character, the right is an important central and inevitable element in community life. Giovanni Sercambi’s novelliere is no exception even if the author lacks a legal culture, nor is specifically interested in right. This essay intends to analyze these novellas under this profile to verify what kind of right they consider and how the stories are enriched
Design and development of automotive bumper subsystem for lightweight and vehicular crashworthiness
Reducing fuel consumption, satisfying the current regulations regarding GHG emissions and customer safety requirements are the main targets for automotive industries. Today, the research and development departments of car industries are trying to address such issues by substituting the traditional steel components with lightweight advanced composite materials. However, the complexity of composite failure behavior for impact loading and the trade-off between vehicle weight and crashworthiness make the change from metallic to composite materials very difficult and remains the main obstacle for their rapid development.
With the current die forming and injection over-molding technologies, open composite beam shells can be structurally can be integrated with the crash box. Therefore, if the strength/stiffness of an open structure can be maintained, the capability of component integration will offer a reduction in the number of parts, increase the production rate and reduce the number of mechanical joints. It is obvious that, open-channel thin-wall beam is structurally weak and can readily buckle under lateral and compressive loads. However, with very little lateral support, provided by a thin-wall rib-like injection-molded plastic sub-component, the buckling and bending stiffness can be improved.
In the current study, three composite materials are considered for a lightweight automotive bumper beam and better crashworthiness. The rib pattern selection, beam end section and geometry optimization have been conducted numerically. A low velocity impact test was carried out and four parameters, such as impact energy, peak load, crash resistance and energy absorption were taken as evaluation criteria to compare the materials proposed with steel solutions. The results show that with a proper end section, rib geometry optimization and reinforcement rib selection, an open section beam can yield a structural performance comparable with that of a closed section beam
OPTIMIZATION OF AUTOMOTIVE COMPOSITE BUMPER BEAM WITH OPEN SECTION FOR PRODUCTION AND STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE
Reduction of fuel consumption, satisfaction of current regulation and in particular the legislation regarding GHG emission and customer safety requirements are the main concerns of today for automotive industries. The effective means to address these issues are mainly based on the possibility of reducing the vehicle mass. In this perspective it is very promising to substitute the traditional steel by lightweight composite material. However, as the mechanical and failure behavior of composite materials are completely different from those characteristic for the traditional metallic material, substitution has to be made by a complete re-design. Beside to take advantage from the specific characteristic of the composite materials, re-design must take in great consideration both production technology and joining feasibility. Die forming manufacturing technology has been considered for the production technique due to its capability to produce open composite shells with the desired shape and to obtain structurally integrated crash box and bumper beam as a single component. Since open section beams are structurally weaker than similar closed section solutions for the intended loading case, besides cross overall sectional geometry optimization, different set of reinforcing ribs have been used to optimize the structural performance. The result shows that with a proper selection of reinforcing ribs, an open section beam can yield a structural performance comparable with that of the close section on
Numeri Cromosomici per la Flora Italiana: 1500. Crepis tectorum L.
Basic features of Ne*–HX (X = Cl, Br) chemi-ionization reactions
Total and partial ionization cross sections for Ne*(3P2,0)–HX (X 1⁄4 Cl, Br) are presented in a comparative way
as a function of the collision energy between 0.02–0.5 eV. New mass spectrometric data on Ne*–HBr
chemi-ionization are discussed and analyzed with already published data on Ne*–HCl, highlighting
similarities and differences of the collisional stereodynamics of the two systems. Basic features of the
interaction potentials, driving reactive collisions, suggest that reaction channels, leading to the formation
of parent HX+ ions in the ground and excited electronic state and to the formation of associated NeHX+
ions as well as of NeH+ proton transfer species, are selectively opened within angular cones exhibiting
different orientation and acceptance
