This species was described based on a female from a <i>Ploceus intermedius</i> Ruppell (Ploceidae) that died in Antwerp Zoo (Belgium), originating from Central Africa (Fain 1972). Later on, it was redescribed (Fain <i>et al</i>. 1999). No records since the original description.</p> <p> <b>Type material</b>. Fain. <b>Holotype deposition.</b> Male holotype male in IRSNB.</p> <p> <b>Remarks</b>. This species was described based on a male from a <i>Serinus mozambicus</i> that died in Antwerp Zoo (Belgium), originating from Central Africa (Fain 1972). Later on, it was redescribed by Fain <i>et al</i>. (1999). Number of leg setae: coxae 2–1–1–0, trochanters 1–1–0–0, femora 7–4–3–3, genua 4–4–3–3, tibiae 5–3–3–3. All setae on genu and tibia of leg I similar in shape. Claws without basal angles. Coboydaia Fain. They 1985
Genus <i>Coboydaia</i> Fain, 1985 <p> <i>Coboydaya</i> Fain, 1971: 98 (as subgenus of <i>Boydaia</i>), 1985a: 146 (genus rank). Type species: <i>Boydaia trochila</i> Fain, 1958 by original designation.</p> <p> <b>Diagnosis.</b> Hypostome with 2 pairs of setae. Propodonotal region with 5–6 pairs of setae (<i>ve</i> present or absent). Each agenital and pseudanal setal series with 1–2 pairs. Trochanter I and II without setae.</p> <p> <b>Remarks.</b> The members of this genus are associated mainly with passerines, however two species have been recorded from non-passeriform host orders: Apodiformes and Columbiformes (Fain <i>et al</i>. 1985; Skoracki <i>et al</i>. 2012).
