Diplomsko delo govori o procesni problematiki v storitvenem podjetju in ugotavlja kakšni so potenciali ter možne variantne rešitve za izboljšavo. Središče naloge je vpeljava digitalnih delovnih nalogov, kateri so ključni za učinkovito delovanje celotnega procesa. S pomočjo znanstveno-raziskovalnih metod, je bila izbrana najboljša rešitev za podjetje. Na podlagi tržnih in vrednostnih analiz, pa izbran najboljši produkt, kateri je predlagan za implementacijo. Obravnavana je tudi problematika prerazporeditve delovnih mest in zaposlenih.The diploma thesis talks about process issues in a service company and identifies potentials and possible variant solutions for improvement. The center of the thesis is the introduction of digital work orders, which are key to the efficient functioning of the entire company process. With the help of scientific research methods, the best solution for the company was chosen. Based on market and value analyses, the best product is selected and proposed for implementation. The issue of redistribution of jobs and employees is also discussed
Tema literature v metaliterarni trilogiji Enriqueja Vila-Matasa
Magistrska naloga se osredotoča na način, na katerega Enrique Vila-Matas v romanih Bartleby & Co., Mal de Montano in Doctor Pasavento razvija temo literature. Delo na začetku kot osnovo za nadaljnjo analizo obravnave teme literature, predstavi avtorja romanov, tri obravnavana dela z analizo dela, protagonista in pripovedovalca ter obdobje postmodernizma. Pri analizi teme literature se delo osredotoča na področje izčrpanosti literature. Magistrsko delo predstavi teoretske osnove teme literature in se osredotoči na Vila-Matasov pogled na literaturo. Tema literature pri Vila-Matasu je v omenjenih delih obravnavana z vidika izčrpanosti literature in možnih prihodnjih usmeritev. Razmišlja o tišini in prenehanju pisanja ter drugi skrajnosti, nenehnem pisanju. Obravnava tudi izginotje lika pisatelja in zasebno pisanje, ki ni namenjeno objavljanju. Vila-Matas trenutno stanje literature predstavlja kot bolezensko in skozi tri analizirana dela išče najpogostejše simptome bolezni literature in pisateljev.This master thesis focuses on the ways in which Enrique Vila-Matas develops the theme of literature in his three novels: Bartleby and company, Montano\u27s Malady and Doctor Pasavento. The thesis as the base for further analysis of the presented theme firstly introduces the author of the novels, the three discussed literary works by analyzing them, the narrators and the protagonists and the period of postmodernism. The analysis of the theme of literature focuses on the field of the exhaustion of literature. The master thesis further presents the theoretical basis of the theme of literature and focuses on author%s unique vision of literature. The theme of literature in the analyzed works is threated from the perspective of the exhaustion of literature as well as the possibility of future creations. It deals with silence and desistence of writing and the opposite, continuous writing, the disappearance of the writer as a character and private writing, that is not intended to be published. The author represent the current state of literature as a disease and searches for most common symptoms of it
Mechanistic insight into the anticarcinogenic and neuroprotective activity of natural polyphenolic compounds
Namen doktorske disertacije je z uporabo inovativnih računalniških pristopov preučiti in pojasniti slabo raziskane molekularne mehanizme antikarcinogenega in nevroprotektivnega delovanja naravnih polifenolnih spojin v vlogi preprečevalcev nastanka raka ter v vlogi zaviralcev napredovanja karcinogeneze in Alzheimerjeve bolezni.
V prvem delu doktorske disertacije smo z uporabo kvantomehanskih simulacij obravnavali polifenol [6]-gingerol in tripeptid glutation v vlogi lovilcev devetih genotoksičnih kemijskih karcinogenenov ter tako kot prvi omogočili dragocen vpogled v pripadajoče geometrije reaktantov in prehodnih stanj, ki potrjujejo veljavnost predpostavljenega SN2 reakcijskega mehanizma. Predstavljena kvantnomehanska metodologija ima velik potencial, da postane standardno orodje za napovedovanje kemozaščitnega potenciala številnih polifenolnih spojin v vlogi lovilcev kemijskih karcinogenov epoksidnega tipa.
V drugem delu doktorske disertacije smo s kvantnomehansko obravnavo ksantohumola iz hmelja in njegovih derivatov izoksantohumola, 8-prenilnaringenina in 6-prenilnaringenina v vlogi lovilcev aflatoksin B1 ekso-8,9-epoksida razkrili povezavo med strukturo in antikarcinogeno aktivnostjo izbranih prenilflavonoidov ter potrdili veljavnost predpostavljenega SN2 reakcijskega mehanizma. Znižanje z aflatoksinom B1 inducirane citotoksičnosti in genotoksičnosti je bilo potrjeno tudi in vitro na celicah človeškega hepatoma HepG2 po dodatku ksantohumola.
V tretjem delu doktorske disertacije smo razvili popolnoma nov protokol za inverzno molekulsko sidranje, s pomočjo katerega je mogoče identificirati zožen nabor najbolj verjetnih tarčnih človeških proteinov izbrane polifenolne spojine. Na podlagi afinitete izbranega polifenola kurkumina za vezavo na specifične človeške proteine, ki sodelujejo v onkogenih in nevrodegenerativnih signalnih kaskadah, smo kot prvi uspešno razkrili mehanizme njegovega antikarcinogenega in nevroprotektivnega delovanja. Predstavljeni protokol inverznega molekulskega sidranja ima velik potencial v farmacevtskih aplikacijah, saj gre za univerzalen pristop, s pomočjo katerega lahko predvidimo proteinske tarče in pojasnimo že opažene ter napovemo nove potencialne biološke učinke izbranih spojin vodnic.
V četrtem delu doktorske disertacije smo z uporabo molekulskega sidranja, simulacij molekulske dinamike in prostoenergijskih izračunov preučevali štiri prehranske polifenole kot potencialne inhibitorje encima fosfodiesteraza 4D, ki predstavlja validirano terapevtsko tarčo za zdravljenje Alzheimerjeve bolezni. Izračunane vezavne proste energije potrjujejo, da kurkumin, [6]-gingerol, kapsaicin in resveratrol predstavljajo potencialne inhibitorje encima fosfodiesteraza 4D, pri čemer ima kurkumin največji inhibitorni potencial. S kombiniranim računalniškim pristopom smo tako prvič dobili mehanistični vpogled v povezavo med strukturo in nevroprotektivnim delovanjem štirih preučevanih polifenolov, ki je eksperimentu nedosegljiv.
V petem delu doktorske disertacije smo predstavili ekstrakcijske, destilacijske in karakterizacijske metode za pridobivanje visoko kvalitetnih bioaktivnih ekstraktov, eteričnih olj in posameznih polifenolnih spojin iz rožmarina ter metode za določanje njihovega antioksidativnega, antimikrobnega, protivnetnega in antikarcinogenega potenciala. S temeljitim pregledom obstoječih raziskav in z usmeritvami za nadaljnje raziskave smo postavili temelje za uspešne aplikacije ekstraktov, eteričnih olj ter številnih polifenolnih spojin iz rožmarina v farmacevtski in prehranski industriji.
Trdno verjamemo, da v doktorski disertaciji predstavljeni in silico pristopi in razkriti inhibitorni mehanizmi tvorijo izhodišče za hitrejši in cenejši razvoj novih funkcionalnih prehranskih dopolnil in zdravil za preprečevanje in zdravljenje raka ter Alzheimerjeve bolezni s potencialno širšim terapevtskim oknom in manjšimi stranskimi učinki.This doctoral dissertation aims to examine and elucidate the poorly understood molecular mechanisms of anticarcinogenic and neuroprotective effects of natural polyphenols as chemopreventive agents as well as in the role of suppressors of carcinogenesis and Alzheimer\u27s disease, using innovative computational approaches.
In the first part of the doctoral dissertation, we examined polyphenol [6]-gingerol and the tripeptide glutathione as scavengers of nine ultimate genotoxic chemical carcinogens. Using quantum mechanical simulations, we obtained valuable insights into the proposed SN2 reaction mechanisms and the geometries of the corresponding reactants and transition states. The presented quantum-mechanical methodology has a high potential to become a standard tool for predicting the chemopreventive potential of various polyphenolic compounds as scavengers of chemical carcinogens of the epoxy type.
In the second part of the doctoral dissertation, we investigated xanthohumol and its derivatives isoxanthohumol, 8-prenylnaringenin, and 6-prenylnaringenin as scavengers of aflatoxin B1 exo-8,9-epoxide. Using quantum mechanical simulations, we discovered the connection between the structure and the anticarcinogenic activity of the studied prenylflavonoids, as well as confirmed the validity of the proposed SN2 reaction mechanism. Reduction in aflatoxin B1-induced cytotoxicity and genotoxicity was also confirmed in vitro in human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cell line after the addition of xanthohumol.
In the third part of the doctoral dissertation, we developed a novel inverse molecular docking protocol, which identifies a narrow set of prioritized human protein targets of a selected polyphenolic compound. We were the first to successfully uncover the molecular mechanisms of curcumin\u27s anticarcinogenic and neuroprotective activities, based on its binding affinity to specific human proteins involved in oncogenic and neurodegenerative signaling cascades. Moreover, the developed protocol possesses a high potential in pharmaceutical applications, as it represents a universal approach that can be used to explain the already observed as well as predict new potential biological effects of the studied lead compounds.
In the fourth part of the doctoral dissertation, we performed molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and binding free energy calculations to investigate inhibitory mechanisms of four dietary polyphenols against phosphodiesterase 4D, which represents a high-interest therapeutic target for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The calculated binding free energies proved that curcumin, [6]-gingerol, capsaicin, and resveratrol represent potential inhibitors of phosphodiesterase 4D, with curcumin exhibiting the highest inhibitory potency. With the combined computational approach, we for the first time obtained a mechanistic insight into the connection between the structure and neuroprotective activities of the four studied polyphenols, which is unattainable using laboratory experiments.
In the fifth part of the doctoral dissertation, we presented extraction, distillation, and characterization methods for obtaining high-quality bioactive extracts, essential oils, and major bioactive polyphenols from rosemary as well as methods for determining their antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic potentials. With a comprehensive review of existing research and guidelines for further research, we laid the foundation for successful applications of extracts, essential oils, and numerous bioactive polyphenols from rosemary in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
We firmly believe that presented in silico approaches as well as uncovered inhibitory mechanisms form a solid basis for faster and cheaper development of novel functional dietary supplements and drugs for the prevention and treatment of cancer and Alzheimer\u27s disease with a potentially wider therapeutic window and fewer side effects

In this diploma I will analyse in detail several selected poems by one of the world’s most acknowledged and famous artists. Leonard Cohen is a Canadian poet, novelist, songwriter and singer who has written novels, countless poems and lyrics that have been published in his poem collections and albums. In his life, he has won many awards, titles and honours. On the other hand, there is much more to this man than these achievements. One of the reasons he has maintained his position amongst the best is the themes he writes about. Personal relationships, separation, sexuality and isolation are a few of the reflections in his works. Other keynotes to his poems are religion and spirituality. He was born in a Jewish family, but that did not stop him from experimenting and studying other religions. He has been especially keen to Buddhism and Christianity, which he often refers to in his poems and songs. Furthermore, a number of times his songs are socio-politically oriented. He has expressed his views and disagreements on current events through his lyrics where he has been quite sharp and scornful.
He has experimented with different musical instruments and has worked with different artists on his projects, which is a proof of his continuous development and searching.V diplomskem delu smo poskusili podrobneje spoznati enega najbolj cenjenih in slavnih umetnikov. Gospod Leonard Cohen je Kanadski poet, romanopisec, tekstopisec in pevec. Napisal je kar nekaj romanov, nešteto pesmi in besedil, ki so bili objavljeni v njegovih albumih in zbirkah. Dobil je veliko nagrad, odlikovanj in nazivov. Vendar pa smo prepričani, da se za vsemi temi dosežki skriva še veliko več. Izmed razlogov, da se je uspel obdržati med najboljšimi, so prav gotovo teme, o katerih piše v svojih besedilih. Medosebni odnosi, ločitve, osamljenost, izolacija in pa seksualnost je samo nekaj delčkov, o katerih razmišlja v svojih delih. Še dve osrednji temi njegovih pesmi in besedil sta duhovnost in religija. Cohen se je sicer rodil v judovsko družino, kar pa ga ni ustavilo, da bi se spogledoval tudi z drugimi verstvi. Preizkusil in preučeval je budizem in krščanstvo, na katera se pogosto obrača v svojih delih. Nadalje so njegove pesmi velikokrat socialno –politične. V svojih besedilih je bil pogosto precej oster in kritičen, ko je izražal svoja nestrinjanja in vidike o aktualnih dogodkih.

Study of adsorption of ammonium ions on zeolites
Diplomsko delo prikazuje študijo adsorpcije amonijevih ionov iz modelnih raztopin in vzorcev pitne vode iz Mariborskega vodovoda na tri različne adsorbente: zeolit klinoptilolit z granulami velikosti od 1 mm do 2 mm, zeolit klinoptilolit velikosti granul od 2 mm do 4 mm iz regije Krapina na Hrvaškem in zeleni pesek. Da bi ugotovili učinkovitost preučevanih adsorbentov, smo spreminjali njihovo maso od 0,25 g do 1 g, vpliv motečih ionov v vzorcih pitne vode na adsorpcijo amonijevih ionov pa preverjali s spreminjanjem začetne koncentracije amonijevih ionov pri 25 °C. Optimalna vrednost pH za adsorpcijo amonijevih ionov na preučevane adsorbente je 8, kar smo dosegli brez dodatka kisline ali baze. Preučili smo tudi zmožnost regeneracije najučinkovitejšega adsorbenta.
Ugotovili smo, da se adsorpcija amonijevih ionov na zeolit klinoptilolit z večanjem velikosti granul znižuje. Rezultati eksperimentalnega dela kažejo, da ima prisotnost drugih ionov v vzorcih pitne vode največji vpliv na učinkovitost ionske izmenjave pri zelenem pesku, v manjši meri pa vpliva na adsorpcijo amonijevih ionov na naravni zeolit klinoptilolit. Iz rezultatov je razvidno, da ima z NaCl regenerirani zeolit klinoptilolit (1 mm – 2 mm) višjo izmenjevalno kapaciteto kot pred regeneracijo. Po drugi regeneraciji smo v 120 minutah z 1 g klinoptilolita (1 mm – 2 mm) odstranili 100 % amonijevih ionov. Ravnotežne eksperimentalne podatke za zeleni pesek smo analizirali z uporabo Freundlichove in Langmuirjeve linearne adsorpcijske izoterme in ugotovili, da se bolje prilegajo Langmuirjevi izotermi. Dobljeni rezultati potrjujejo, da vsi trije preučevani adsorbenti predstavljajo potencialno alternativo za odstranjevanje amonijevih ionov v nizkih koncentracijah iz pitne vode.In this study, the adsorption of ammonium ions from aqueous solution and drinking water samples from Mariborski vodovod on three different adsorbents was investigated: the zeolite clinoptilolite with particle size from 1 mm to 2 mm, the zeolite clinoptilolite with particle size from 2 mm to 4 mm from the Krapina region, Croatia, and the greensand. In order to study the efficiencies of these adsorbents, their masses were changed from 0,25 g to 1 g. The influences of the other ions in drinking water samples upon exchange of ammonium ions were tested by changing the initial concentrations of ammonium ions at 25 °C. The optimum pH value for adsorption of ammonium ions was determined as 8, which was achived without adding any acid or base. The regeneration of the most efficient adsorbent was also studied.
From the obtained results it can be concluded that the ammonium ions adsorption decreases with the increasing particle size of natural zeolite clinoptilolite. The present work showed that the exchange of ammonium ions in drinking water samples was the most lower by greensand, the ion exchange on natural zeolite clinoptilolite was less affected. The results indicated that cation exchange capacity of natural zeolite clinoptilolite (1 mm - 2 mm) increased after regeneration with NaCl. After 120 min of second regeneration 100 % adsorption of ammonium ions on 1 g of clinoptilolite (1 mm - 2 mm) was achieved. Equilibrium data for greensand were fitted by Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm. Langmuir isotherm fitted better the experimental data. From the present work it can be concluded that all three adsorbents can be used effectively for ammonium removal from drinking water with low initial concentration of ammonium ions
PREVAJANJE KNJIG ZA SAMOPOMOČ: PREVAJALSKI PROBLEMI V KNJIGI RHONDE BYRNE
Self-help books are becoming very popular nowadays and have to be translated in other languages in order to be accessible to a wider audience from other countries. All self-help books share the same goal: to help the readers find solutions to their problems. They are written with a specific purpose and have special characteristics, which have to be considered when translating them.
This graduation thesis focuses on the translation of self-help books in general and gives an analysis of some aspects of the translation of a specific self-help book - The Secret. This is a self-help book about happiness and getting and achieving everything the readers want in their life, written by Rhonda Byrne in 2006. The thesis looks into some specific problems the translator faced while translating the book from English into the Slovene language and examines the inconsistencies with the original that occurred in the Slovene translation. The first problem addressed is the decision about the use of formal or informal addressing of readers. The translator decided to use a T/V distinction and addresses the readers with a polite second plural V-form of a verb (“vi”) – “vikanje”. The second problem discussed is the problem of non-equivalence of word-meanings. The most common and important verb that is repeated throughout the whole book is verb “want”. Nevertheless, the verb is not translated consistently and is sometimes replaced with other verbs and words. The third problem is the problem of repetition of the lexical items or phrases, which have a cohesive and a rhetoric function. However, the translator did not preserve all the repetitions. The fourth problem the thesis focuses on is the problem of capitalization of words. Some concepts are capitalized in the original, because they are allegorical personification or because of their importance, yet the capitalization is not preserved in all cases in the translation.
The main focus of the graduation thesis is to determine how the translator solved the problem of pragmatic adjustment of the book to the Slovene audience and their culture.Knjige za samopomoč postajajo zelo priljubljene v današnjem času, zato morajo biti prevedene v druge jezike, da so lahko dostopne širšemu številu bralcev iz drugih držav. Vse knjige za samopomoč imajo enak cilj: pomagati bralcem najti rešitve njihovih problemov. Napisane so z določenim namenom in imajo posebne značilnosti, ki jih je pri prevajanju potrebno upoštevati.
Diplomska naloga se osredotoča na prevajanje knjig za samopomoč na splošno in na nekatere probleme ki so se pojavili pri prevajanju določene knjige za samopomoč – Skrivnost. To je knjiga za samopomoč na temo sreče in tega, kako dobiti in doseči vse, kar si bralci želijo v svojem življenju, ki jo je napisala Rhonda Byrne leta 2006. Naloga se posveča določenim problemom, na katere je naletela prevajalka, ko je prevajala knjigo iz angleškega v slovenski jezik in analizira neskladnosti z originalom, ki so se pojavile slovenskem prevodu. Prvi problem, je odločitev o uporabi formalnega ali neformalnega naslavljanja bralcev. Prevajalka se je odločila uporabiti vikanje in naslavlja bralce z drugo osebo množine (»vi«), ki je spoštljiva oblika naslavljanja. Drugi obravnavan problem je problem neenakovrednega pomena besed. Najbolj pogost in pomemben glagol, ki se ponavlja skozi celotno knjigo je glagol »want«. Vendar le-ta ni preveden dosledno in je včasih zamenjan z drugimi glagoli in besedami. Tretji problem je problem ponavljanja besed in besednih zvez, ki imajo kohezivno in retorično funkcijo, kjer prevajalka ni ohranila vseh ponovitev. Četrti problem, ki se mu naloga posveča, je problem pisanja z veliko začetnico. Nekateri pojmi so v originalu zapisani z veliko začetnico, ker so alegorične poosebitve ali zaradi njihove pomembnosti, vendar prevajalka ni ohranila zapisa vseh teh pojmov z veliko začetnico v prevodu.
Glavni namen diplomske naloge je ugotoviti, kako je prevajalka rešila problem pragmatične prilagoditve knjige slovenskim bralcem in njihovi kulturi
[6]-gingerol as a natural scavenger of chemical carcinogens - a computational approach
V magistrski nalogi smo se posvetili preučevanju [6]-gingerola iz ingverja kot polifenolnega lovilca devetih končnih kemijskih karcinogenov aflatoksin B1 ekso-8,9-epoksida, β-propiolaktona, 2-cianoetilen oksida, etilen oksida, kloroetilen oksida, glicidamida, propilen oksida, stiren oksida in vinil karbamat epoksida. Za oceno učinkovitosti [6]-gingerola smo raziskavo razširili še z obravnavo najmočnejšega lovilca kemijskih karcinogenov v našem telesu - glutationa. V magistrskem delu smo s pomočjo računalniških simulacij preučili mehanizme reakcij med kemijskimi karcinogeni in [6]-gingerolom oz. glutationom, pri čemer smo izračune aktivacijskih prostih energij izvedli z uporabo kvantnomehanske metode Hartree-Fock pri treh različnih baznih setih.
Naša študija nakazuje, da [6]-gingerol predstavlja univerzalen in izredno učinkovit naravni lovilec kemijskih karcinogenov epoksidnega tipa. Aktivacijske proste energije, dobljene po solvatacijskih metodah Samouglašenega reakcijskega polja in Langevinovih dipolov, ki so direktno primerljive z eksperimentalnimi podatki, so za reakcije vseh obravnavanih kemijskih karcinogenov s [6]-gingerolom nižje od eksperimentalno določenih aktivacijskih prostih energij za reakcije obravnavanih karcinogenov z najbolj reaktivno izmed organskih baz DNA- gvaninom.
Izračuni aktivacijskih prostih energij ob upoštevanju solvatacijskih efektov nakazujejo, da nas glutation ne more učinkovito zaščititi pred vsemi obravnavanimi kemijskimi karcinogeni. Dobljene aktivacijske proste energije so bile namreč večinoma višje od eksperimentalno določenih aktivacijskih prostih energij za reakcije obravnavanih karcinogenov z gvaninom. V primerjavi z glutationom se je [6]-gingerol izkazal kot učinkovitejši lovilec osmih obravnavanih kemijskih karcinogenov, le pri reakciji alkilacije z aflatoksin B1 ekso-8,9-epoksidom [6]-gingerol in glutation predstavljata enakovredno učinkovita lovilca.
Dobljeni rezultati potrjujejo tudi hipotezo, da reakcije alkilacije med obravnavanimi kemijskimi karcinogeni in [6]-gingerolom oz. glutationom potekajo po mehanizmu nukleofilne substitucije SN2.
Dobljene aktivacijske proste energije ob upoštevanju solvatacijskih efektov potrjujejo, da za preprečitev iniciacije karcinogeneze, ki jo povzročajo obravnavane rakotvorne spojine iz vsakdanjega življenja, potrebujemo dodatno zaščito, ki jo lahko zagotovi [6]-gingerol. Verjamemo, da naša raziskava predstavlja izhodišče za nadaljnje računalniške, eksperimentalne in klinične študije antikarcinogenih učinkov [6]-gingerola ter za razvoj novih selektivnih prehranskih dopolnil.In the master thesis, we examined [6]-gingerol from ginger as a polyphenolic scavenger of nine ultimate chemical carcinogens aflatoxin B1 ekso-8,9-epoxide, β-propiolactone, 2-cyanoethylene oxide, ethylene oxide, chloroethylene oxide, glycidamide, propylene oxide, styrene oxide and vinyl carbamate epoxide. To evaluate [6]-gingerol efficiency, we expanded our research with examination of glutathione - the strongest scavenger of chemical carcinogens in human bodies. Furthermore, we examined mechanisms of chemical reactions of [6]-gingerol and glutathione with chemical carcinogens. The ab initio calculations of activation free energies were performed at the Hartree-Fock level of theory in conjunction with three different basis sets.
According to our research, [6]-gingerol proves to be a universal and extremely efficient natural scavenger of chemical carcinogens of the epoxy type. Activation free energies, obtained with solvation methods Self-consistent reaction field and Langevin dipoles, are comparable with the experimental results. Moreover, experimentally obtained activation free energies for reactions of chemical carcinogens with the most reactive DNA base guanine were higher than the obtained activation free energies for the reactions of chemical carcinogens with [6]-gingerol.
Activation free energies obtained by quantum-chemical simulations with included solvation effects, suggest that glutathione cannot efficiently protect us from all chemical carcinogens. Namely, most of the obtained activation free energies for the reactions with glutathione were higher than the experimentally obtained activation free energies for reactions of chemical carcinogens with guanine. In comparison with glutathione, [6]-gingerol proved to be a more efficient natural scavenger of eight chemical carcinogens. The only exception was the alkylation reaction with aflatoxin B1 ekso-8,9-epoxide, where [6]-gingerol and glutathione performed equally well.
Obtained results present strong evidence in favor of the validity of the proposed SN2 reaction mechanism for the alkylation reactions of [6]-gingerol and glutathione with chemical carcinogens.
Furthermore, our results obtained with solvation methods imply, that additional protection is required for prevention of carcinogenesis triggered by chemical carcinogens. Based on our results, additional protection can be assured by ingestion of [6]-gingerol.
We strongly believe that our research represents the basis for further computational, experimental and clinical studies of anti-carcinogenic properties of [6]-gingerol and for development of novel selective dietary supplements

Bartleby & co. - a postmodern novel
V diplomski nalogi z naslovom Bartleby & co. – postmodernistični roman bom skušala dokazati, da je roman Enriqueja Vila-Matasa z naslovom Bartleby & co. res postmodernistični roman ter da tako vsebinsko kot tudi formalno zadošča določilom postmodernizma. Diplomsko delo najprej osvetli življenje ter delo avtorja romana in pa osnovne značilnosti obravnavanega dela, kot so koncept romana, njegova zgradba, pripovedovalec in protagonist. Ker je pri procesu določanja, ali neko delo je postmodernistično ali ne, neizogibno predstaviti značilnosti obdobja, glavne teoretike ter glavna določila za postmodernistična dela, se vse naštete stvari nahajajo v diplomski nalogi. Poleg tega naloga vsebuje kratko predstavitev postmodernizma v Španiji, saj gre za španskega avtorja, na katerega je domače okolje do neke mere zagotovo vplivalo. Pri dokazovanju, da je Bartleby & co. res postmodernistični roman, se bom osredotočila na pojavljanje metafikcije in intertekstualnosti v romanu, kako je predstavljen odnos do resnice in fikcije ter predstava sveta skozi podobo labirinta, mreže, ogledala in knjižnice. Predstavljen bo krajši pregled, kako se skozi roman kaže koncept konca velikih zgodb ter mešanja literarnih vrst. Opisana bo tudi tema romana, predstavljena skozi vidik postmodernizma.The thesis Bartleby & co. – postmodernistični roman (Bartleby & co. – A Postmodern Novel) discusses the theory which states that the novel Bartleby & co., written by Enrique Vila-Matas, qualifies as a postmodern novel. The focus will be on its content and form and how they coincide with the norms of postmodern literature. The first part of the thesis deals with the author\u27s biography and his works, as well as the fundamental characteristics of the aforementioned novel, such as it\u27s concept, structure, the narrator and the protagonist. In order to discuss whether a certain literary work can be referred to as postmodern, the characteristics of this period, its main critics and norms must also be presented. A short presentation of postmodernism in Spain is included, since the environment of his home country has definetly had a noticable effect on Enrique Vila-Matas. When trying to prove that Bartleby & co. truly is a postmodern novel, I will focus on the metafiction and intertextuality of the novel, the presentation of the relationship between reality and fiction, as well as on the presentation of the world through the images of a labyrinth, a net, a mirror and a library. The thesis briefly examines the concepts of the \u27end of great narratives\u27 and mixing different literary genres in the novel.
