    Comparare è una necessità e una scommessa, quando non un azzardo, che continua a metterci di fronte a difficoltà inaggirabili. La prima si chiama specialismo: ogni studioso è in questa condizione, cui di fatto le istituzioni accademiche spingono anche quando sembrano favorire gli incontri fra discipline diverse. Il paradosso è dunque che non si può dare comparazione seria se prima non si è data una qualche forma di specialismo. È questo lo spirito che anima i contributi raccolti in questo volume. I saggi qui raccolti, infatti, affrontano il tema dell’interruzione e della cesura da prospettive e con approcci molteplici, in una varietà di studi che complessivamente ricadono negli ambiti della linguistica, della letteratura e della metrica. Sta al lettore individuare le intersezioni possibili, guidato dai propri interessi, come anche riconoscere che, in una certa misura, ci sono metodi o approcci o declinazioni di uno stesso tema non sovrapponibili

    Questo volume affronta il tema dell’architettura ecclesiastica delle fondazioni nemanidi del XII secolo (Madre di Dio, San Nicola, San Giorgio) studiando le scelte progettuali della committenza e di maestranze di differente provenienza culturale. Le tecniche costruttive dei monumenti sono viste come strumento capace di plasmare lo spazio, tenendo presente che l’effetto visuale dello spazio cupolato nel mondo romanico è diametralmente opposto rispetto a quello presente nel mondo bizantino. Per realizzare questa ricerca sono state analizzate le diverse fasi costruttive di alcune chiese sulla base di documenti d’archivio e sui rilievi effettuati sul campo, tenendo conto del contesto storico. Ne emerge in conclusione che le manifestazioni costruttive di questa architettura regionale non vanno intese come una contrapposizione fra Bisanzio e l’Occidente, ma rappresentano piuttosto la sintesi originale di diverse tradizioni architettoniche affermatasi nella Serbia medievale.This volume focuses on the ecclesiastical architecture of 12th-century Nemaniad origins (Mother of God, Saint Nicholas and Saint George) by examining the layout preferences of the client and the workforce of diverse cultural backgrounds. The author discusses the monuments' construction techniques as a primary instrument for shaping space by taking into consideration the visual effects of the domed space of Romanesque architecture as diametrically opposed to architectural elements present in the Byzantine world. The analysis of the different construction phases of the churches considered is carried out based on archival documents, on a survey carried out in the field, and a reconstruction of their realities within a historical context. What emerges in this analysis is that a regional architecture’s selection choices for construction should not be understood as an either-or scenario between Byzantium and the West, but rather as the result of a synthesis of different local architectural traditions that comes to fruition in Medieval Serbia

    In the present article the author deals with the culinary metaphor ‘insalata russa’ (‘Russian salad’) in Italian language and culture. The author starts with a short review of the dish that is called in Italian ‘insalata russa’, and that roughly corresponds to the Russian salad ‘Olivier’. As to the uses of the culinary metaphor ‘insalata russa’, analyzed by the author, they point to the fact that in Italian it is used with the meaning of ‘mix of heterogeneous and varied elements’. The use occurrences of the locution ‘insalata russa’ comprise the titles of three anthologies of tales (published respectively in 1925, 1934 and 1996), the Italian title of the Russian film Okno v Pariž (Window to Paris), 1994, and the results of the query ‘insalata russa’ in the corpora of Italian language COris/ COdis. Finally, the author compares these results with those provided by the search of the same locution in Russian (‘русский салат’). This last search reveals that in Russian the locution ‘Russian salad’ is used exclusively in its literal sense

    Names and Attributes of the Mother of God. For a Church Slavonic-Russian-Italian <em>Lexicon</em> of Religious Terms

    In direct continuity with a previous essay on the study of a selection of attributes referred to the Christian God (Ferro, Romoli 2013), the authors analyze a number of epithets and attributes addressed to the Mother of God or defining her qualities. These words are frequently used in medieval Eastern Slavic literature, they are usually stated in the most authoritative dictionaries of Old and Church Slavonic languages, and remain generally unchanged in modern Russian. Within the project of a trilingual (Church Slavonic-Russian-Italian) lexicon, the essay aims to show how the translation of religious terms goes beyond linguistics, as the question of correspondence or lack of correspondence in concepts and contexts of reference often arises. Since general dictionaries frequently fail to provide satisfactory solutions, it is necessary to go back to the origins, semantics and use of the terms through the systematic use of different types of dictionaries. In addition, in order to provide a proper Italian translation, the use of dictionaries of the Italian language is also fundamental

    Il palindromo in Velimir Chlebnikov: “specchio del suono"

    This article opens with a brief overview of the form and meaning of the palindrome in literature, maths and biology. It then focuses on the revival of the palindrome by the Futurist poet Khlebnikov, who in 1912 composed a short poem consisting of palindromes and who later wrote a long poem entirely in palindromic verses devoted to the legendary historical figure of Stenka Razin. The palindrome is a rhetorical device that meant more than a mere verbal game in Khlebnikov's poetics. It reflects his conception of the word as magic and cosmogonic power which can transform and recreate the world. It is also a figure suitable for the expression of a time of troubles and revolutions. Khlebnikov himself interprets his own life as a palindrome of Razin's, as he declares: “I am the opposite of Razin, I am Razin inside-out”. During the Soviet era, in particular during the rule of Stalin, the palindrome was not approved of, as it was considered a formalistic and purely rhetorical form. Its revival in the 1960s and then again at the beginning of the 1990s acquired political and revolutionary significance. From the 2000s onwards it has become very popular and many publications, sites and blogs in Russia are devoted to it, while its revolutionary significance has noticeably declined. In recent times Khlebnikov's then record-length palindromic poem “Razin” has been overtaken, in terms of length, by numerous other poems composed in various countries

    This paper focuses on the structure of Alfieri's autobiography (Vita) and namely on two overlapping structural partitions: on the one hand, the division into Epoche and chapters (which is a thematic pattern); on the other hand, the division into two Parts (which originates from two writing phases). Besides not influencing the structure of the author's autobiography, the division into two Parts allows us to consider how Alfieri's relation with his work and with his self-representation changes over the time
