    L'articolo descrive la nascita e i principi alla base dell'Infografica IFLA sulle false notizie, uno strumento sviluppato all'interno dell'IFLA Global Vision. L'autrice, responsabile della traduzione italiana, spiega brevemente gli 8 punti, fornendo esempi basati sulle risorse informative italiane, riferisce sulle reazioni alla pubblicazione nella comunità dei bibliotecari italiani e condivide le riflessioni originate dai dubbi in fase di traduzione.The article describes the history and principles lying behind the IFLA Fake news infographic, a tool developed within the IFLA Global Vision. The author, who was responsible for the translation into Italian, briefly explains the 8 points, giving some examples based on Italian resources, reports on the welcome the tool received by the Italian librarians’ community and reflects on the doubts she had during the translation process

    Chi sono i cittadini attivi? Di quale informazione hanno bisogno e da dove la prendono? Come fanno a districarsi nella giungla dell'overload informativo causata dal proliferare dei canali social per la diffusione dell'informazione? Come fanno a difendersi dalla mala-informazione? Trovare, valutare e comprendere l'informazione che serve a chi partecipa attivamente alla società richiede la capacità e la motivazione ad uscire dal rumore informativo e tuffarsi nella complessità dell'organizzazione documentale, che va compresa con uno sforzo. L'informazione corrente è prodotta dai giornali, le biblioteche non possono competere con la velocità del mondo delle notizie – dove secondo alcuni la velocità a volte domina anche sull'accuratezza – quindi quello non è un posto per bibliotecari. Tuttavia, essi possono agire in modo creativo, mossi dall'etica e liberi di sperimentare creativamente, e in sinergia con altri attori della scena, dalle scuole alle istituzioni, possono dare il loro contributo ad educare alla ricerca del pensiero critico.     E-learning contribution to the building of a multi-generational workplace learning community in an academic library: Observations drawn from practice

    Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to relate an experience which tried to veer the focus of traditional workplace learning towards blended learning in an Italian University. The question is whether this will really contribute to creating a community in a situation where people have little opportunities to have contact and exchange ideas and practices. Tutor support and careful induction sessions will help make everyone more comfortable with the new technology by showing the opportunities it opens up. Design/methodology/approach – The evidence taken into consideration refers to the initial phases of the project: leading a needs assessment survey and introducing library staff to the new system, both as learners and teachers. Courses have been organized and surveys have been drawn to collect the participants' impressions. Findings – Actually, it seems that learning is enhanced when related to real situations, and so is interaction and involvement of participants, notwithstanding age and background differences: this seems to be even more true for online environments. Research limitations/implications – This is a report about a particular experience from which is drawn a series of considerations useful for practice: it is not intended as a wide scope study on e‐learning application to workplace learning and development. Practical implications – The experience described here builds up a basis for a new mode of delivering learning experiences at work, while at the same time trying to create a sense of belonging and community. Originality/value – Though not aiming at drawing conclusive statements on the subject, the paper analyzes the impact of blended learning in an organizational environment where differences in age, education and relative isolation of single workers are the rule. This applies to most library systems and larger organizations, therefore the experience can build up a basis for critical thought in sketching workplace development plans for larger libraries and library systems

    Developing an English course for in-service librarians : the advantages of blended learning

    Purpose – The purpose of this study is to describe the design and delivery of an English language course aimed for in‐service librarians and to report about the effects of the blended delivery mode on the learning experience. Design/methodology/approach – The paper describes the broader context in which the course was developed, its goals, the way it was planned and delivered in a blended mode, the participants' perception at the end of the course and after one year and the Learning Management System which was used (Moodle). Findings – Blended learning in workplace instruction is very fruitful, especially when applied to language learning, as it allows one to establish a collaborative environment and to stretch the learning experience over a longer time, at the same time limiting the absence from work. This involvement is possible only when the topics are close to the participants' professional interests and the teacher stimulates collaboration. Practical implications – The course model could build up the basis for a continuous workplace instruction, especially in the academic environment where e‐learning tools are already available. Originality/value – There is not much literature on teaching English to librarians. Though based on some wider reading, most of the considerations come from the experience of the teacher, a librarian with a language teaching background, and therefore are based heavily on real situations. It could be useful to any organisations who are thinking of starting an in‐service blended learning experience

    Il volume fa chiarezza sui termini usati per descrivere l’ecosistema della disinformazione, raccogliendoli in un glossario che aiuta a dare struttura a un dibattito in divenire e talvolta contraddittorio. I lemmi del glossario sono in gran parte prestiti anglofoni, che talvolta sono entrati nei dizionari italiani prima che in quelli inglesi; tuttavia, anche se la forma esteriore ha lo stesso suono, l’ambito semantico può variare. È importante capire le differenze, tanto più per quella parte della comunità italiana che intenda seguire e partecipare al dibattito internazionale: l’autrice offre chiarimenti in questo senso, sottolineando sia le difformità che le identità di vedute. Ciascun lemma viene spiegato a partire da un’analisi contrastiva dei dizionari linguistici italiani e inglesi. Ogni voce è integrata da suggerimenti di lettura che vanno dalla filosofia alle scienze sociali, dalla comunicazione alla psicologia, raccolti con intento bibliografico e osservati dal punto di vista delle discipline del libro e del documento

    Cercare informazione nell'infosfera è un atto che cambia non solo la nostra conoscenza del mondo ma anche la nostra concezione di noi stessi, come dice Luciano Floridi. In questo scenario, alla luce del dibattito mediatico crescente sulle Fake News, le biblioteche hanno l'opportunità di porsi come mediatori ed accrescere la consapevolezza informativa non solo di chi le frequenta, ma anche anche dei non-ancora utenti. Un'azione aperta alla società potrebbe aumentare il peso del loro ruolo attraverso l'advocacy? L'infografica IFLA sulle false notizie costituisce un'occasione per l'information literacy e per l'advocacy che le biblioteche italiane potrebbero sfruttare con maggiore incisività. Si analizzerà il rapporto IFLA sull'uso dell'Infografica alla ricerca di storie ispiratrici e di esempi di utilizzo dello strumento, anche nelle biblioteche italiane.Looking for information in the infosphere is an act changing not just our knowledge of the world, but also our conception of ourselves, as Luciano Floridi claims. In this scenario, in the light of the vivacious media debate on Fake News, libraries have the opportunity of acting as mediators and contribute to a rise in awareness rise not among both library goers and "not-yet" so. Could an open advocacy policy contribute to increase library voice in society? The IFLA infographic on Fake News offers an opportunity for information literacy and advocacy that Italian libraries could exploit more decisively. The present paper analyzes the IFLA Report on the use of infographic while looking for inspiring stories and examples on the use of the tool in Italian libraries
