No full textNel 2021 è stato inaugurato a Douala, Cameroon, il progetto per un Hub culturale sviluppato dagli architetti Cascone+Laddaga / Codesignlab e commissionato dalla ong Coe grazie ad un finanziamento dell’Aics - Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo. Il progetto del centro culturale, presentato alla Biennale di Venezia di Architettura 2021 nell’installazione “Afs-African Fabbers School”, è il frutto di un processo collaborativo che ha coinvolto gli studenti della Afs school, un laboratorio di social design e auto-costruzione, insieme ad artigiani locali. I principi fondativi alla base del progetto realizzato dagli architetti Cascone + Laddaga rispondono alle condizioni estreme del contesto climatico di Douala oltre che all’esigenza di sviluppare un approccio di economia circolare utilizzando materiali e know-how locali. No full textThe Didone' Comacchio architectural studio designed the new roofing for the municipal stadium in Travettore. The grandstands created from the decline of the ground are protected by the new trilithic structure. The base is composed of two perpendicular baffles made of reinforced concrete and covered with stone-effect stoneware. The two elements support the flat coffered roof, made of black steel beams. The different materials and the change in thickness of the elements make the horizontal volume seem to be balanced on the two blocks, giving the work a great sense of horizontal dynamism.
Thanks to the compositional language adopted, which follows the philosophy of German architect Mies van der Rohe, the new stadium roof relates harmoniously with the verticality of the surrounding nature, as if to form a frame that encourages the eye to look towards it

No full textLa costruzione delle Vele di Scampia ha da sempre suscitato numerosi dibattiti, sia dal punto di vista architettonico che sociale. L’estetica di quest’opera differisce notevolmente da quella degli altri edi ci di questa zona, per me sono un’eccezione di forma, un elemento prepotente che irrompe nella geometria del luogo. Guardare le Vele dall’esterno, in modo particolare di notte quando tutto è avvolto nel buio e solo la gola centrale racchiude le corde vocali dei collegamenti verticali sprigiona luce, mi destabilizza. Sembra che il tempo si fermi. Si ha la netta sensazione che quell’architettura appartenga a un’altra realtà. Come quelle cose che ci spaventano, ma che non possiamo fare a meno di guardare. Così sono le Vele. Fanno paura, ma non si può smettere di osservarle.The construction of the Sails of Scampia has always arisen numerous debates, from both the architectural and the social point of view. The aesthetics of this work strongly differs from the one of the other buildings of this area; for me they are an exception of form, a domineering element breaking into the place geometry. Observing the Sails from outside, especially at night when everything is wrapped in the dark and just the central throat containing the vocal cords of the vertical connections diffuses light, destabilises me. Time seems to stand still. You have the strong sensation that this architecture belongs to another reality. As those things scaring us, but that we cannot help observing. These are the Sails. They frighten, but you cannot stop observing them

No full textTourists staying at the Asmundo di Gisira residence continue to travel through the myths and legends of the city of Catania. The house where travellers stay is located in one of the eighteenth-century buildings in Piazza Mazzini in the heart of the Sicilian city. The interior design, by Studio Gum architects, aims to establish a continuous dialogue between modern and antique: no era prevails over the other, each element enhances the other, creating an elegant and welcoming atmosphere. Here, architecture, art and design find not only an aesthetic value, but also a narrative role. With the contribution of craftsmen and artists, each room is designed to tell the story of a myth. The stories of Colapesce, Proserpina, Uzeta, Aci and Galatea, Eliodoro, Billonia and Sant'Agata become tangible material. In this project it is clear that architecture is not only technical, through form it is possible to transmit knowledge and arouse emotions

No full textCon l’atto violento della costruzione architettonica, caliamo nella realtà un dispositivo con ittua- le, formato da materia, spazio e tempo suddiviso in: tempo del mercante e tempo della chiesa1.
Il primo identi ca il tempo politico ed economico, che nella maggior parte dei casi è il fattore che in uenza il progetto architettonico.
Il secondo è il tempo spirituale e della sfera emotiva secondo cui il corpo si relaziona con l’oggetto. Il corpo è il mezzo che congiunge lo spazio con il progetto e ne determina la costruzione. La qua- lità, le caratteristiche e il signi cato dello spazio vengono immaginate secondo la percezione che ne ha il corpo. Attraverso i sensi e la sensibilità il mondo entra nel corpo e nel suo tempo, di cui ne porta memoria2.
La relazione tra il corpo e l’architettura, misuratore e materia misurata3, non può essere scissa o eliminata, poiché questa governa il rapporto di riconoscimento empatico e di dipendenza funzio- nale a cui è soggetto il misuratore rispetto alla materia misurata.
Considerando questo rapporto, il manufatto architettonico può diventare un elemento di transito tra corpo e natura, assumendo il ruolo di strumento da cui e con cui osservare il mondo e il suo tempo.With the violent act of architectural construction, we enter into reality a device with ittua- le, formed by matter, space and time divided into: time of the merchant and time of the church1.
The first is the political and economic time, which in most cases is the factor which makes the architectural project viable.
The second is the spiritual time and the emotional sphere according to which the body relates to the object. The body is the means that connects the space with the project and determines its construction. The quality, characteristics and meaning of space are imagined according to the perception of the body. Through the senses and sensitivity the world enters the body and its time, of which it brings memory2.
The relationship between the body and the architecture, meter and measured matter 3, cannot be split or eliminated, since this governs the relationship of empathic recognition and functional dependence to which the meter is subject with respect to the measured matter.
Considering this relationship, the architectural artifact can become an element of transit between body and nature, assuming the role of instrument from which and with which to observe the world and its time

No full textArchitects should improve reality by grasping the potential of every place. With a few simple gestures, the architectural studio MADE associati has transformed the former centre for the differentiated collection of urban waste (C. A.R. D.) into a park area named Parco Giacomini by the municipal administration. The existing structure is developed following the different heights of the land. Taking advantage of this peculiarity of the site, the designers transformed the retaining wall into an area equipped for games and activities. The key compositional element of this project is the use of colour, used both on the vertical elements and on the paving, which is emptied from time to time to create green flowerbeds. The Treviso studio, through cutting, emptying and repaving, has not only given the city back a space that belongs to it, but has paid great attention to the sustainability of the project, avoiding demolition and waste production and reusing all the available material
