NEUTRALIZATION OF DYEING INDUSTRY WASTEWATER AND SLUDGE BY FIXATION OF POLLUTANTS IN VERY HIGH QUALITY HEU-TYPE ZEOLITIC TUFF
Treatment of dyeing industry wastewater of pH 7.5 with very high quality zeolitic tuff and coagulants, resulted in clear water of pH 7.2, free of odours and improved quality characteristics (colour, suspended particles, COD: Chemical Oxygen Demand, P2O5, NO3-, Cr) by 74 to 98%. The very high quality zeolitic tuff is 3 to 60% more effective than the coagulants, concerning COD, Cr and NO3-. The treatments produced sludge (using coagulants) and zeo-sludge (using very high quality zeolitic tuff and coagulants). The zeo-sludge is odourless and cohesive. The leaching by deionised water of sludge reached values up to 100% for the quality characteristics, while that of the zeo-sludge reached significantly lower values (only up to 18%). The chemical composition of the seepage water from the zeo-sludge proved the fixation of pollutants, such as NO3- and Cr by the very high quality zeolitic tuff
Properties of subspace lattices related to reflexivity
This PhD thesis on Pure Mathematics investigates properties of subspace lattices related to reflexivity. The research focuses on issues such as the reflexivity of the tensor product of two reflexive lattices, the lattice tensor product formula and property (p). Besides, the research investigates other properties related to subspace lattiees such as semi-strong closedness and compactness, and studies algebras associated to certain classes of subspace lattices. The work is divided into three research sections focused on a) the lattice tensor product formula, reflexivity of subspace lattices and property (P) where the author has mainly worked with subspace lattices having the ultraweak rank one density property, atomic Boolean subspace lattices and commutative subspace lattices, b) the behaviour of properties of subspace lattices such as reflexivity, semi-strong closedness and compactness when tensoring with other subspace lattices and c) algebras associated to various subspace lattices. This thesis attributes on our understanding of property (P) by showing that property (P) holds for a number of subspace lattices. Examples of algebras where the lattice tensor product formula holds and of subspace lattices that are reflexive are presented. In addition, our knowledge on semi-strong closedness and compactness of subspace lattices is developed and a partial description of algebras associated to a class of subspace lattices is obtained.EThOS - Electronic Theses Online ServiceGBUnited Kingdo
Searching for the Living Utterance. Elements for a Poetics of the Short Story in Marios Hakkas.
In the three collections of short stories published by Marios Hakkas (1931-1972) between 1966 and 1972, the discrepancy between the texts is obvious. Too often overlooked by critics, it can be explained by a wide range of enunciative approaches: discourse-short stories establish themselves at the expense of narrative-short stories. Formally built as a narrative, the short story looks more and more like a first-person speech. The aim of the thesis has been from then on to study what determines the evolution from the narrative form, sometimes conventional and ideologically committed, to a non-dogmatic speech, focused on the subject and relieved from the narrative’s formal constraints. The heterogeneity of narrative forms is related to both the transformation of story actors, namely the narrator and the characters, and to the short story being focused on a search of knowledge. For it is a subject-enunciator who takes over from the narrator without being clearly known whether he is the author himself, affected by a cancer, or a fictional being. Engaging in an interpretation through the chaos of signs where he nearly disappears, he tries to grasp his own identity, thus contributing to the short story’s rebuilding. This genre ends up taking root in a material and on a structure, that are both mobile, turning away from any predetermined and unequivocal form, privileging in any case an organization which is open to affects and to the possible. The short story comes back to life and becomes a living utterance

Global 30-Day Morbidity and Mortality of Primary Bariatric Surgery Combined With Another Procedure: the Blend Study
Background: No robust data are available on the safety of primary bariatric and metabolic surgery (BMS) alone compared to primary BMS combined with other procedures. Objectives: The objective of this study is to collect a 30-day mortality and morbidity of primary BMS combined with cholecystectomy, ventral hernia repair, or hiatal hernia repair. Setting: This is as an international, multicenter, prospective, and observational audit of patients undergoing primary BMS combined with one or more additional procedures. Methods: The audit took place from January 1 to June 30, 2022. A descriptive analysis was conducted. A propensity score matching analysis compared the BLEND study patients with those from the GENEVA cohort to obtain objective evaluation between combined procedures and primary BMS alone. Results: A total of 75 centers submitted data on 1036 patients. Sleeve gastrectomy was the most commonly primary BMS (N = 653, 63%), and hiatal hernia repair was the most commonly concomitant procedure (N = 447, 43.1%). RYGB accounted for the highest percentage (20.6%) of a 30-day morbidity, followed by SG (10.5%). More than one combined procedures had the highest morbidities among all combinations (17.1%). Out of overall 134 complications, 129 (96.2%) were Clavien-Dindo I–III, and 4 were CD V. Patients who underwent a primary bariatric surgery combined with another procedure had a pronounced increase in a 30-day complication rate compared with patients who underwent only BMS (12.7% vs. 7.1%). Conclusion: Combining BMS with another procedure increases the risk of complications, but most are minor and require no further treatment. Combined procedures with primary BMS is a viable option to consider in selected patients following multi-disciplinary discussion.
