Ansätzen wieEvo-Devo oder evolutionärer Genomik, werden grundsätzliche Überlegungen zumVerständnis von Psychotherapie und ihrer Entwicklung als Disziplin angestellt. Nur aus einer solchen evolutionären Metaposition, so wird vertreten, können konsistenteund nachhaltige Weiterentwicklungen betrieben und durch inter- und transdiziplinärePolyloge erreicht werden. Evolutionspsychologisches Konzeptualisieren in einem biopsychosozialen Ansatz bietet hier wesentliche Beiträge zum Fundus IntegrativerTherapie.On the background of evolutionary thinking, as originated by Charles R. Darwin, and from positions of more recent contributions of evolutionary sciences, e.g. Evo-Devo or evolutionary genomics, some basic reflections are made about the idea ofpsychotherapy and its development as a discipline. It is believed that only from an evolutionary metaposition consistent and sustainable developments can bepromoted through interdisiplinary and transdiciplinary polylogues. Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
No full textWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. On Tax Competition: The (Un-)Expected Advantages of Decentralized Fiscal Autonomy
No full textTax competition is much discussed in the political arena these days. Although it is not a new phenomenon, the political pressure has increased to restrict tax competition by intensifying tax coordination and accomplishing tax harmonization. This particularly holds for the EU which has established a Code of Conduct for business taxation in 1997 and is about to establish a system of information exchange with respect to capital income taxation (allowing Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg a minimum source tax on capital income as an alternative). In 2001, the Commission has additionally released the so called ‚Ruding II‘-report in which a uniform corporate tax base with formulary apportionment is proposed for the EU. In addition, the OECD (1998) aims at stronger tax coordination among its members also favoring a system of information exchange. Such a system would necessarily involve the abolishment of (or the reduction of the strictness of) bank secrecy laws around the world (Feld 2002).

No full textBoth spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.
