Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women and the leading cause of cancer death in American women, with over 207,090 new cases of invasive breast cancer in women and about 39,840 deaths from breast cancer in 2010. Current therapies for breast cancer usu- ally have variable effectiveness with high toxicity to normal tissues, and breast tumours often develop metastasis and drug resistance. Therefore, searching for effective regimens with mini- mal side effects remains the top priority in breast cancer research. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effects of tanshinone II from a Chinese herb, Salvia miltiorrhiza, on the growth of breast cancer cells type MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231

Periprosthetic fractures in Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) are a frequent problem for the orthopedic surgeon. In last 10 years, the incidence of this pathology has interested 1,5% in primary THA and till 6-8% in Revision prosthesis. In this context, the authors performed a study on 24 patients (6♂; 18♀) surgically treated for periprosthetic femoral fracture at the Clinica Ortopedica e Traumatologica, University of Trieste, Italy. The Period is from Jenuary 2006 to December 2011. The Vancouver Classification system was used to classify the periprosthetic fractures. The choice of treatment was based on Vancouver Classification System, on patient clinical conditions and patients age

Bisphosphonates are important inhibitors of bone resorption and widely used clinically to treat osteoporosis, metabolic bone diseases and other orthopaedic disorders . Inhibiting osteoclasts via the mevalonate pathway is rec- ognized as the primary mechanism of its inhibitory action. Recent evidence suggests that bisphosphonates may regulate essential signaling molecules involved in osteoclastoge- nesis such as RANKL (receptor activator of NF- kB ligand) which are synthesized by osteoblasts. In this report we have investigated into the neridronate-osteoblast interactions in modulating essential signaling molecule such as RANKL
