No full textCA-125, in the past considered as marker of ovarian neoplasms, has been proven to be useful successively in several obstetric-gynecologic physiopathologic conditions (Endometriosis, beginning pregnancy, PID), united by the common characteristic of peritoneal involvement. Such evidence has suggested us to search possible correlations with uterine leiomyomatosis disease, which for its frequency has the character of a social disease. Our findings would justify the clinical use of this marker in the first screening of fibromiomas, but above all, its diagnostic utility in evolutive aspects of such pathology
M il figlio del secolo di Antonio Scurati : una polemica tra storia e narrativa
No full textThis article is about the editorial fortune of the book by Antonio Scurati (M: The son of the Century), a fictionalized biography of Benito Mussolini presented by the author as an important book for understanding fascism, beyond history books. The book has long appeared among the leading best sellers in Italy but has been accused of reporting many mistakes regarding dates and characters. After examining the structure of the work and the numerous articles in newspapers and television about it, the article recalls the results of the debate started by Hayden White on history and fiction and its subsequent developments. The structure of the novel and the different narrative and stylistic mechanisms used to create a story are subsequently examined. Equally, the pedagogical and political aspects present in Scurati's work are considered, in comparison with historical methodology and deontology. In conclusion, the article excludes a direct comparison between products that appear intrinsically different, for purpose, structure, and narrative forms

G-CSF pharmacologic supplementation in the ART (Assisted Reproductive Technologies) treatment cycles of low responder women
No full textGranulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) is a
cytokine discovered as a growth factor for granulocytes
but it has been shown to have a lot of other physiologic
actions. Recently, its role in the reproductive systems
has been pointed out and particularly in ovarian follicles
where the G-CSF concentration was found to be
directly correlated to the oocyte quality and this was in
relationship to the patient age.In order to improve the response of
the ovary to the pharmacologic stimulatory treatment
we administered a supplementation of G-CSF to low
responder women in ART cycles.Our data show that G-CSF
supplementation is effective to improve the results in the
ART treatment of low responder women. This cytokine
seems to have a local paracrine effect on oocytes stimulating
their ability to develop under pharmacological
stimulation and maybe even to be fertilized
