Lucidi FS, Semmler W. Long-run scarring effects of meltdowns in a small-scale nonlinear quadratic model. Journal of Macroeconomics. 2023;75: 103487.We build a small-scale nonlinear quadratic (NLQ) model in which credit feedback and regime switches in the output gap affect the adjustment path of the economy towards a steady state. The central bank solves a finite-horizon decision problem where the policy rate also can be zero or negative. We estimate this model by nonlinear seemingly unrelated regression method (NLSUR) and using the parameters to explore policy scenarios. The latter projects long-run dynamics after a large demand contraction leading to scarring effects on the economy. We point out three main results. First, while scars are dominant when the central bank follows a standard Taylor rule, unconventional monetary policy (UMP) – such as Quantitative Easing – mitigates the output decline in both the short and the long run. Second, a zero natural interest rate curtails the central bank’s ability to adjust the economy and mitigate scars. Third, financial constraints leave the deepest scars even if UMP is active

Many years after the proposal of a biopsychosocial model, today we speak of Global Health as a fundamental human right, in which health and disease are considered results of processes that are not only biological but also economic, social, political, cultural and environmental, transcending and going beyond national perspectives, as well as the interests and possibilities of individual disciplines. Adopting a transdisciplinary perspective from a transnational perspective, to speak of Global Health is to foreground the inequalities that are present in terms of hope and quality of life, disease and disability as well as health resources and opportunities both within and between countries, through research, training and intervention in care, disease prevention and health promotion. Health Psychology has the opportunity to contribute to this process by bringing to it knowledge, skills, perspectives ready to merge in an approach that focuses on problem solving and not on the disciplines that contribute to it

Physical activity between health promotion and citizenship rights

Several data show that regular physical activity has significant benefits on physical health and psychological wellbeing. The costs of sedentary lifestyles are recognized and suggest the need of working towards physical activity promotion in health policy and in other relevant sectors. Nevertheless in Italy the data show a trend of increasing inactivity rate. One of the main challenge for Sport and Exercise Psychologists is to contribute to develop health promotion programs, developing correct strategies in order to help people to establish active life style habits early in life and to maintain these behaviors throughout their lives. Examples of these programs are described in the paper

L'etica della ricerca tra scienza, conoscenza, coscienza

The reflection on ethics in psychological research is part of the more general one on psychology as a science that shows aspects of extreme openness to different paradigms. Methodological pluralism, which represents one of the most extraordinary resources of psychological science, corresponds to the responsibility of ensuring common ethical principles applicable in very different contexts. For this reason, training in research ethics in psychology cannot be limited to the transmission of a set of practices, to be approached as a fulfillment. On the contrary, ethics is a value and a goal of research, which is achieved through exchange, collaboration and comparison

This comment focuses on two issues both concerning AVA. The first is of a general nature and refers to the mismatch between quality assessment and quality assurance process assessment. The second refers to a specific issue which is the assessment of learning outcomes through disciplinary competence testing
