Monodromy representations and surfaces with maximal Albanese dimension
We relate the existence of some surfaces of general type and maximal Albanese dimension to the existence of some monodromy representations of the braid group B2(C2) in the symmetric group Sn. Furthermore, we compute the number of such representations up to n= 9 , and we analyze the cases n∈{2,3,4}. For n=2,3 we recover some surfaces with pg= q= 2 recently studied (with different methods) by the author and his collaborators, whereas for n= 4 we obtain some conjecturally new examples
Estrategias identitarias y crónica literaria desde perspectivas fronterizas: ‘Crónica sentimental de la Transición’ de Manuel Vazquez Montalban en El Pais Semanal
For 31 weeks – between January and August 1985 – a new series of articles, “Crónica sentimental de la Transición”, then compiled and edited in the same year by Planeta. Taking into consideration the aspect of the concept of ‘border’ as limen, that is, unstable place-threshold of the identity configuration, which can encourage research about the ‘other’ and promote the encounter, this work aims to analyse the resources of literary discourses used by Vázquez Montalbán within the macro-text of the newspaper, in the theoretical framework of Cultural Studies. As a process already experienced by the author, this “Crónica” weaves a reflection on the new identity construction of the Spain of the Political Transition
Forme di aggregazione a Himera alla fine del v secolo a.C. : il caso dell'Isolato XII : con un'appendice di Cecilia Cittadini
In this paper, the author presents the functional analysis of a house of Himera. The house, located in the Block XII of the plateau of Himera, was excavated in the 1970s by the Istituto di Archeologia dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo. Two houses were characterized by a certain richness of furnishings, consisting of abundant colonial and imported ceramic material, as well as bronze and marble furnishings. The research was concentrated in the Casa I Nord of the “Isolato XII”, from which all the materials were analyzed. Although in the eastern part of the house the archaeological contexts had been damaged by plough ing, a study of the finds allowed a functional reading of the building, in which there were a piece connected to the preparation and conservation of food, the courtyard and a compartment intended for the reception of guests. Precisely this last compartment provided a considerable amount of table vases, two marble and figured vases that hint at erotic and prenuptial themes. The context of this last room, as well as the architectural and planimetric characteristics of the house, prompted the author to read the building as an occasional location for collective activities. The carrying out of community rites within the oikos, today confirmed by numerous archaeological finds in different poleis, once again nudges the scientific debate towards the abandonment of the opposing categories of “sacred / profane”, “public / private”, “civic /individual”, to the advantage of a more nuanced interpretation of the archaeological context, firmly an chored to the archaeological data
A new family of surfaces with pg=q=2 and K2=6 whose Albanese map has degree 4
We construct a new family of minimal surfaces of general type with pg = q = 2 and K2 = 6,
whose Albanese map is a quadruple cover of an abelian surface with polarization of type
(1, 3). We also show that this family provides an irreducible component of the moduli space
of surfaces with pg = q = 2 and K2 = 6. Finally, we prove that such a component is generically
smooth of dimension 4 and that it contains the two-dimensional family of product–quotient
examples previously constructed by the first author. The main tools we use are the Fourier–Mukai
transform and the Schr ̈odinger representation of the finite Heisenberg group H3
Diagonal double Kodaira structures on finite groups
We introduce some special presentations on finite groups, that we call
"diagonal double Kodaira structures" and whose existence is equivalent to the
existence of some special Kodaira fibred surfaces, that we call "diagonal
double Kodaira fibrations". This allows us to rephrase in purely algebraic
terms some results about finite Heisenberg groups, previously obtained in the
recent work of the author with A. Causin, and makes possible to extend them to
the case of arbitrary extra-special -groups.Comment: To appear in the Proceedings of the 2019 ISAAC Congress (Aveiro,

Identidad transterritorial en la literatura saharawi: La luz de cuatro velas en el Sáhara de Ali Salem Inselmu
The study focuses on the analysis of Ali Salem Iselmu’s collection of short
stories, La luz de cuatro velas en el Sáhara, as an expression, within Saharawi
Literature, of a peculiar identity paradigm, which is based on the transterritorial
experience of the author and its characters. The book is made up of four
parts, four ‘chronotopes’, according to a journey from the past to the vision
of the future. The constitution in Madrid, on July 9, 2005, of the Generación
de la Amistad, by a whole generation of journalists, poets, writers with roots
in Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony, with a biography of a migrant
and with the determination of writing a literature in Spanish with traces of
Hassania, determines the birth of a lesser literature and, in the reflection of
Deleuze and Guattari, necessarily revolutionary
On surfaces with pg = q = 2, k2 = 5 and albanese map of degree 3
We construct a connected, irreducible component of the moduli space of minimal surfaces of general type with pg = q = 2 and K2 = 5, which contains both examples given by Chen-Hacon and the first author. This component is generically smooth of dimension 4, and all its points parametrize surfaces whose Albanese map is a generically finite triple cover

Extra-special quotients of surface braid groups and double Kodaira fibrations with small signature
We study some special systems of generators on finite groups, introduced in
previous work by the first author and called "diagonal double Kodaira
structures", in order to investigate non-abelian, finite quotients of the pure
braid group on two strands , where is a
closed Riemann surface of genus . In particular, we prove that, if a finite
group admits a diagonal double Kodaira structure, then , and
equality holds if and only if is extra-special. In the last section, as a
geometrical application of our algebraic results, we construct two
-dimensional families of double Kodaira fibrations having signature .
Such surfaces are different from the ones recently constructed by Lee, L\"onne
and Rollenske and, as far as we know, they provide the first examples of
positive-dimensional families of double Kodaira fibrations with small
signature.Comment: 28 pages, 2 figures. Title changed. Final version, to appear in
