Contemporary art, aesthetics and autonomy: Notes on Juliane Rebentisch’s aesthetics
Over the last years, philosophical thoughts about art, has probably been confronted to one of its greatest challenges: facing the present of art. From different theoretical traditions and argumentative positions, the notion of “contemporary art” is problematized in the philosophical field. In this article I present some approaches of Juliane Rebenstisch who can be recognized as a heir of the Frankfurt Institute of Social Research critical tradition like. I try to highlight some warnings made by this author about the implications of contemporary art and the analogies it has with the logics of the market and the forms of neoliberalism.
incidindo no produto e executado a posteriori, após o término do processo tradutório;
A metodologia seguida
The present work presents a theoretical study that aims to render problematic the
concept of quality in translation in Juliane House. Its realization followed the principles
of comparative conceptual research, centered on the comparison between the concept of
quality used by Juliane House in her model of quality assessment in translation
(HOUSE, 2015) and the precepts of the main concepts of quality practiced in the
discipline Quality Management of the Administration Rank. The results obtained
indicate that for House “quality means equivalence and equivalence means quality”. The
concept of quality retained by the author is limited to the linguistic aspect of the
translation, based on the concept of linguistic equivalence, focusing on the product and
executed a posteriori, after the end of the translation process; these characteristics are
fully opposed to the global, broad and anticipatory concept as practiced within the scope
of the Quality Management discipline. The methodology followed was based on the
comparative method and the analysis of concepts.Instituto de Letras (IL)Departamento de Línguas Estrangeiras e Tradução (IL LET)Programa de Pós-Graduação em Estudos da Traduçã
Discrimination of Two Auditory Durations by Pigeons
Title: Discrimination of Two Auditory Durations by Pigeons, Author: Juliane B. Kinchla, Location: ThodeAuditory duration discrimination in pigeons was investigated using a procedure designed to provide a direct analogue to the conventional "yes-no" signal detection task with humans. Two experiments were reported and discussed, the scope of which include development and maintenance of the discrimination using highly confusable durations, manipulation of the values of the auditory durations, achievement of stochastic stationary, manipulation of the probability of reinforcement and extinction of the discrimination.ThesisDoctor of Philosophy (PhD
“Challenging the Authority of Religious Interpretation in Saudi Arabia::The Transformation of Suhaila Zain al-Abedin Hammad
Taking as its starting point that a male monopoly is a problem in the recognition of Islamic religious authority, especially in matters related to women, this chapter discusses the possibilities for challenging this monopoly. The author argues that it is necessary to create alternative sources of authority from within the realm of religious scholarship through women scholars laying direct claim to the interpretation of sacred texts. Al Fassi uses the works and experiences of the Saudi scholar, Suhaila Zain al-Abedin Hammad, as a specific example for this approach. Hammad, an accomplished religious scholar, has worked tirelessly through her writing, both in books and her weekly newspaper column, to address difficult issues in Islamic law, to rethink the use of weak hadiths, and to critique Saudi legal rulings. The chapter also considers the intense backlash against her work and her impact on Saudi public opinion. © 2020 selection and editorial matter, Dina El Omari, Juliane Hammer and Mouhanad Khorchide; individual chapters, the contributors
