Predictive Maintenance - Nutzen Sie Ihre Maschinendaten.
Equation-based modelling and simulation of hybrid systems
S.27-36Equation-based modelling of hybrid systems has to consider dynamical systems consisting of components with continuous and/or discrete behavior. The paper focuses on such systems under special consideration of systems with variable model structure. Some ideas are presented how a simulation of continuous and discrete phenomena can be handled correctly. The main process is a continuing alternation between continuous and discrete simulation phases, where in the discrete phase the changeover can be performed to a new model structure which is valid during the next continuous phase. The paper addresses the problem of finding a new valid model structure as a process within the discrete phase. This new valid model structure has to be found under consideration of the time history of the model's variables within the preceding continuous phase. To this end, the usage of the Linear Complementarity Problem (LCP) is proposed. After a definition of hybrid systems and the term model structure, different types of events - with and without influence on the model structure - are listed and properties of complementarity are presented. To find the correct switchover from continuous to discrete phase, so-called indicator functions are used. Contrariwise, to find the correct switchover from discrete to continuous phase, the LCP is applied. Some simulation results for an electromechanical system are presented shortly
In modern industry today, large amounts of data are collected and stored in various components of the IT infrastructure. On the other hand, everyone is talking about the new possibilities of artificial intelligence and its successes to date. This automatically raises the question: why not bring the two together? Artificial intelligence - or rather machine learning - offers excellent opportunities to not only master the masses of data being generated, but also to extract profitable information from it. But AI is not a panacea. Although the possible applications are extremely diverse, there are also limits.
This presentation looks at the topic of artificial intelligence from the perspective of the potential industrial user. First, some terms from the field of AI are briefly explained and categorized. Then the difference between the design of classic software and an AI application will be discussed. Furthermore, the categories into which the tasks that an AI can solve are usually divided are explained. After a brief excursion into the world of industrial data in terms of origin and AI suitability, some of the challenges that need to be overcome when introducing AI are explained. An example each from maintenance and process optimization will round off the presentation

Artificial Intelligence for Industrial Applications
Due to digitalization, modern machines and systems provide massive quantities of data, which form a significant basis for the optimization of production processes, operations and safety. These data sets, however, grow more and more complex, which renders the simple analysis methods typically used in the past often ineffective. This is one factor driving the rising importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in decision-making processes
Predictive maintenance in tomorrow's industries
Combining data analytics and process knowledge to predict machine failures in advance: Tomorrow's production plants must be efficient and adaptive, which is the key to survival in modern, highly competitive markets brought about by digitalization and automation. Future-oriented companies are increasingly focusing on a tight combination of automation and computer technology as promised by the Industry 4.0 paradigm. More and more globally distributed technical systems facilitate exchange of data and remote analysis, e.g. in superordinate IT infrastructures like in a cloud. Local and cloud-based data analysis can be used to realize comprehensive predictive maintenance solutions in order to optimize maintenance intervals, maximize machine lifetime and reduce expensive machine downtime. Well-prepared, successful predictive maintenance solutions not only require knowledge about mathematical statistics and classification methods but also about the complete production process
IoT for Building Energy Systems in Zero-Emission Buildings
Smart buildings lead to significant energy savings, but a few challenges remain. How can buildings contribute to a significant reduction in global primary energy consumption? Due to the global trend toward reducing CO2 emissions and resource conservation, the demands are increasing with regard to the efficiency of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems operated in buildings. In conflict with calls for faster measures to reduce CO2 emissions and conserve resources, buildings are very long-lived objects that exist for 50 to 100 years. As a result, new concepts based on modern construction materials are only slowly gaining ground. On the other hand, it is much simpler to upgrade an existing building into a smart building. This allows significant energy savings of up to 20% to be realized within a short time. But four prerequisites are necessary for effective energy-management
