This archive contains original GIS data used in: Ellis, Erle C., Kaplan, Jed O., Fuller, Dorian Q., Vavrus, Steve, Klein Goldewijk, Kees, and Peter Verburg. 2013. Used planet: A global history Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences 110:7978-7985. Please cite this reference for all use of these data. This data archive is provided to: 1) Reproduce Figure 1 in Ellis et al (2013). Graphics for Figure 1 are included as .tif files. An ArcGIS Map Document (.mxd) is provided, reproducing maps in Figure 1. 2) Enable analysis of total % land use per cell in different time periods across the past 8000 years based on the two anthropogenic land cover change (alcc) GIS datasets used in Ellis et al (2013: paper: HYDE 3.1 (Klein Goldewijk et al, 2011) and KK10 (Kaplan et al, 2011). Full Details are included in the readme.txt file in the zip file

    Anthromes v2 (ArcInfo binary GRID)

GIS data for the global map of Anthropogenic Biomes (version 2) originally published in Ellis et al. (2010). This dataverse is composed of a set of 5 arc minute gridded data for the years 1700, 1800, 1900 and 2000. The ZIP file contains directories for each year with an ArcInfo binary GRID and associated files for use in GIS software. An image (.png) file describing the map legend/symbology is: anthromes_v2_legend.png To view these data in ArcGIS, simply unzip to an accessible directory. Please cite: Ellis, E. C., K. Anthromes v1 (ArcInfo binary GRID)

    No full text
GIS data for the global map of Anthropogenic Biomes (version 1) originally published in Ellis and Ramankutty (2008). The ZIP file contains an ArcInfo binary GRID and an ArcGIS symbology layer (.lyr) for visualization using GIS software. This dataset is a 5 arc minute thematic grid, prepared as described in WebPanel 1 of Ellis and Ramankutty (2008). The GRID file is composed of files in two directories: \anthromes_v1 \info and an auxiliary file: anthromes_v3.aux The layer (.lyr) file with map symbology is: anthropogenic_biomes.lyr To view these data in ArcGIS, simply unzip to an accessible directory and open the layer file. Replication Data for Table 1 in Locke et al. (2019): Three Global Conditions

    No full text
This file contains global data enabling the replication of Table 1 in Locke et al. (2019). This is a .CSV file with estimates for each global grid cell (DGG cell) in the Three Global Conditions Map. The statistics in Table 1 can be estimated by summarizing these data across all grid cells. To use these data in a GIS, this file may be joined to the DGG shapefile provided in The Three Global Conditions Dataverse: three_conditions_v4_map_only.shp on the field "L1_ID" (a unique integer code for each DGG cell). Full details, including appropriate citations for all data are in the Metadata Document: three_global_conditions_table_1_metadata_2020_08_06.pdf</p
