Stan Jones-mystery author of Tundra Kill; White Sky, Black Ice; Shaman Pass; Frozen Sun; and Village of the Ghost Bears-collaborated with Patricia Watts on the sixth Nathan Active series called The Big Empty. In the story, Nathan Active investigates a suspicious plane crash in Chukchi. Lori Townsend's novel Ghost Ship welcomes back Anchorage-based reporter Zilla Gillette, who is investigating an unusual disappearance of a group of nine teenagers from the Bering Strait community of Nome. Lori Townsend is the news director for the Alaska Public Radio Network. Her first book, American Home Wrecker, introduced the tough and insightful Zilla Gillette. George Harbeson Jr.'s short story collection Shadowed Times: Alaska stories of another age was a finalist in the Brighthorse Books' Prize for Short Fiction, 2017. The streamwise turbulence intensity in the intermediate layer of high Reynolds turbulent pipe flow
No full textA modification of the Townsend-Perry attached eddy model is derived in order to reproduce a more realistic variation of the integral length scale. A new wavenumber range is introduced to the model at wavenumbers smaller than the Townsend-Perry k^(-1) spectrum. This necessary addition can also account for the high Reynolds number outer peak of the turbulent kinetic energy in the intermediate layer. An analytic expression is obtained for this outer peak in agreement with extremely high Reynolds number data by Hultmark et al (2012, 2013). The finding of Dallas et al (2009) that it is the eddy turnover time and not the mean flow gradient which scales with distance to the wall and skin friction velocity in the intermediate layer implies, when combined with Townsend's (1976) production-dissipation balance, that the mean flow gradient has an outer peak at the same location as the turbulent kinetic energy

Specifically, the objectives are:1. To determine what specific interventions for mood and anxiety disorders, and self harm behaviours are effective for young offenders, and;2. To determine whether specific interventions are effective in different types of disorder in young offenders (e.g. depression, PTSD).</p
Clinical proteomics and breast cancer
No full textBackground: Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease. Yet, many molecular players and mechanisms behind the complexity of its clinical behaviour remain unknown, and advances in biomedical research are expected to unravel novel molecular discoveries in breast and other cancers. Clinical proteomics is currently experiencing rapid advances in technology that promise new means to improve breast cancer early diagnosis, stratification, and treatment response.Methods: We reviewed recent literature adopting clinical proteomics in breast cancer research.Findings: This review highlights the principles, advantages, limitations, discoveries and future prospects of recent clinical proteomics discovery efforts in breast cancer research.Conclusion: Numerous proteomic studies of breast cancer have been accomplished aiming to aid the development of personalised therapies, increase understanding of post treatment relapse, and help improve prediction of patient prognosis. This has led to the possible identification of profiles refining breast cancer subtypes and the discovery of novel biomarkers pointing towards diagnostic and prognostic potential
