The theoretical part of the diploma thesis deals with the effects of sleep on human health. Lack of sleep has demonstrable effects on a person's physical and mental health. People are succumbing to strong influences of present day society, which degrade their quality of sleep. These influences do not only effect adults, but children and adolescents as well. One can improve sleep quality by following sleep hygiene rules. Nowadays these rules are often violated. The main problem is ignorance. The aim of the practical part of this diploma thesis was to compare satisfaction with quality of sleep between groups of students in elementary schools, students of secondary schools, and adult working people. It was also investigated whether respondents in schools were familiar with sleep hygiene and whether they followed it. The results of the questionnaire surveys found that the group least satisfied with sleep quality was the group with working adults. More than half of the respondents in schools were unaware of sleep hygiene. It was confirmed that more than two thirds of respondents do not follow sleep hygiene rules. In the conclusion, the author has included material on sleep problems for grade eight students of elementary schools. It could be used as a draft chaper for future school textbooks, because..

Pathophysiological mechanisms in idiopathic scoliosis A neurophysiological study of cortical and spinal inhibitory circuits and myogenic aspects of idiopathic scoliosis Author: MUDr. Václav Boček Supervisor: prof. MUDr. Ivana Štětkářová, CSc. INTRODUCTION: Although adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) represents the most common spinal deformity, its aetiology remains still unknown. The origins of the disease are spotted at the local level (the spine and the paraspinal muscles) and/ or general - endocrinological (melatonin, leptin), sensory (vestibular system, impaired own body image) and at the level of motor cortex, where the impaired sensorimotor integration has not been properly debated nor documented. The central inhibitory mechanisms are still somewhat omitted. AIM OF THE STUDY: Our study was focused on local changes at the level of paraspinal muscles and central inhibitory mechanisms at the brain and spinal cord level. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We compared AIS patients and healthy controls (HC). Firstly We performed needle EMG of paraspinal muscles. Secondly perioperative muscle biopsies were collected during correctional surgery focused on the distinguishing type I and II muscle fibres proportion. We also studied spinal inhibition with the spinal inhibitory reflex cutaneous silent period. Motor..

The diploma thesis entitled "neglect syndrome by patients with stroke" consists of two parts: theoretical and exploratory. The theoretical part of the work deals with the characteristics of the disease stroke, its causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Furthermore, the characteristics of neglect syndrome as a result of the disease, its manifestations, rehabilitation options, and also the impact on daily activities. At the end of the theoretical part, the characteristics of standardized tests are described, some of which are used for exploratory research. The second, exploratory part uses selected tests and the CBS scale to determine to what extent the surveyed respondent is affected by the neglect syndrome, and in which area of activities it is most intense. Furthermore, the relationship between the evaluation of the CBS scale from the patient's point of view, the evaluation of the CBS scale from the nurse's view during a 12-hour shift and the relationship to paper-pencil tests will be determined. This survey found that the most useful test batteries for this survey were the star cancellation test, the albert´ test, and the more narrowly focused CBS scale. A comparison of the scale completed by the patient and the scale completed by the nurse revealed compatibility.Fakulta zdravotnických studiíŽádné doplňující otázky pro obhajobu závěrečné práce. This master's thesis examines the topic of the structure and mobility of the spine in the teaching of biology in the eighth grade of elementary schools and the third grade of multi-year grammar schools (Gymnasiums). The aim of the thesis is to identify misconceptions held by students within the selected topic. The first part is theoretical. At the start, I analyse curriculum documents and define the term misconception, then I provide a brief description of the anatomy of the spine and trunk and the definition of mobility and in the last section I deal with musculoskeletal disorders, especially the VDT - poor posture and its prevention. The second part of the thesis is practical. Here, I first discuss the methodology of textbook analysis and the questionnaire survey. The aim of the textbook analysis is to determine the scope of the material on the musculoskeletal system in the textbooks, focusing on the topic of spinal structure and mobility. The introductory analysis is followed by a questionnaire compiled to identify students' misconceptions about the given topic. In the second section of the practical part, I evaluate the results of the textbook analysis and the questionnaire survey. The skeletal and muscular system as well as the structure of the spine and disorders of the musculoskeletal system...Tato diplomová práce je věnována tématu stavby a mobility páteře ve výuce přírodopisu osmých tříd ZŠ a tercií víceletých gymnázií. Výsledky dotazníkového šetření ukazují jako problematické tyto úseky: stavba...Katedra biologie a environmentálních studiíFaculty of EducationPedagogická fakult
