Austempering vs. Q&P: Comparative effects on microstructure and mechanical properties of complex-alloyed TRIP-assisted steel
No full textThis study compares the effect of austempering (AT) and two-step quenching and partitioning (Q&P) treatments on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a 0.2 wt% C Mn-Si-Cr-Mo-V-Nb TRIP-assisted steel. Both treatments included austenitization (770 °C or 900 °C) followed by quenching and isothermal holding (20 min). AT used a 350 °C isothermal hold, while Q&P involved quenching to 200 °C or 230 °C, followed by partitioning at 350 °C. Microstructural analysis (OM, SEM, XRD, EPMA, EBSD) revealed ferrite and (Nb,V)C in both treatments, with bainite (AT) or tempered martensite/bainite (Q&P) and varying retained austenite (RA) content depending on the austenitization temperature. Austenitization at 770 °C resulted in Cr- and Mo-promoted cementite precipitation, reducing the RA volume fraction and ductility. In contrast, 900 °C austenitization resulted in a cementite-free structure with 7–9 vol% RA exhibiting a clear TRIP effect. The ultimate tensile strength (UTS) increased with austenitization temperature (820–880 MPa to 1040–1090 MPa) due to a decreased proeutectoid ferrite, grain refinement, and enhanced TRIP effect, though at some expense of ductility/toughness. Under the same austenitization parameters, Q&P yielded slightly higher UTS (∼ 50 MPa higher), and much greater impact toughness (by 2 times at 770 °C and 1.4 times at 900 °C). Due to a superior strength-ductility-toughness balance, Q&P is identified as a more promising heat treatment for this TRIP-assisted steel

No full textYu Takeuchi is serving for JAXA since 2007 and currently working as Associate Senior Administrator at Management and Integration Department of Human Spaceflight Technology Directorate. He is also working as Researcher at the Institute of Space Law of Keio University. He received LL.M. degree from the Institute of Air and Space Law of McGill University in 2015. His main interest is in international space law inter alia the legal aspects of space traffic management and sustainable space development. He is a member of the Air Law Institute of Japan, Japanese Society of International Law, and the International Institute of Space Law (IISL).

Intractability of Optimal Multi-Robot Path Planning on Planar Graphs
No full textWe study the computational complexity of optimally solving multi-robot path planning problems on planar graphs. For four common time- and distance-based objectives, we show that the associated path optimization problems for multiple robots are all NP-complete, even when the underlying graph is planar. Establishing the computational intractability of optimal multi-robot path planning problems on planar graphs has important practical implications. In particular, our result suggests the preferred approach toward solving such problems, when the number of robots is large, is to augment the planar environment to reduce the sharing of paths among robots traveling in opposite directions on those paths. Indeed, such efficiency boosting structures, such as highways and elevated intersections, are ubiquitous in robotics and transportation applications.Peer reviewe

Writing a Wikipedia Article on Cultural Competence in Health Care
No full textThis article describes how librarians created a Wikipedia article on cultural competence in health care to support the medical school’s curriculum. Wikipedia, often considered not as reliable as scholarly articles, continues to be popular. Rutgers librarians conducted a Wikipedia project to improve its content to benefit students. The importance of cultural competency in health care is widely recognized due to increasingly diverse patient populations. Medical schools integrate cultural competency in curricula to train students to be culturally competent. Therefore, this topic was chosen for the Wikipedia Project. It is hoped that health sciences librarians and educators will benefit from their experience
