No full textEdward Smith was an environmental engineering faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering and Construction Engineering Departments at the American University in Cairo from 1997 to 2012. He offers a view of AUC’s Engineering Department and its units when he arrived, and the later division into departments within the School of Sciences and Engineering (SSE) in the early 2000s. He covers the emergence of new engineering programs and growing enrollment during his time at AUC, and mentions significant faculty colleagues. Smith describes the downtown campus and laboratory and other facilities in the Science Building and new Falaki Building. He recalls the relocation to the new campus, including moving equipment and dealing with power outages, and highlights the role of SSE Dean Medhat Haroun and the impact of the move in areas like interactions among faculty. Smith offers observations on AUC students and the behavior, and on changes in higher education. He gives a sketch of his own research in environmental engineering (focused on water), as well as his life in Maadi (including his Metro commute to the downtown campus) and later Rehab City

In the 1900s, she was renamed the "Zillah" She was owned by H. R. Spencer of Duluth, Minnesota. From 1906 to 1925, she was owned by O. W. Blodgett of Bay City, Michigan. August 29, 1926, with the "Delaware" in tow, she foundered off Whitefish Bay. With the exception of Captain Walter Niel, the crew was lost

No full textA Certificate of Promotion, Seventh-day Adventist Schools, certifying that Edward Smith completed in a satisfactory manner, the course of study prescribed for the seventh and eighth grades and is therefore entitled to admission to the ninth grade of any Seventh-day Adventist School. The certificate is dated May 10, 1920 and signed by W. J. Blake, Principal; Lotta E. Bell, Superintendent of Schools; and G. R. Fatteo, Union Educational Secretary. The dating is a bit odd, as according to the report cards, Edward Smith completed 8th grade in 1915. The certificate is framed
