TYPE LOCALITY. 21 km SW of Hamadan, Hamadan Prov., Iran. DISTRIBUTION. Endemic to Iran. DISTRIBUTION IN IRAN. Fig. 101. Known only from the type locality. HABITAT. Stony hills and mountainous steppes with vegetation consisting mainly of Astragalus, Euphorbia, and Gondelium. REMARKS. We follow Sindaco & Jeremčenko (2008) in using the spelling ‘ nova’ instead of ‘ novo ’ as it was originally described since the gender of Eremias is feminine. REFERENCES. COMMON NAME. — Persian Striped Skink. HOLOTYPE. — RUZM-SE-07. TYPE LOCALITY. — 28 km South West of Tehran Province around the Imam Khomaini Airport (IKA), at an elevation of about 1100 m. Checklist of endemic Tetrapoda of Iran DISTRIBUTION. — From South of Tehran to Kerman Province at the eastern Zagros Mountain slopes. HABITAT. — Found in broad flat vegetated plains with scattered bushes with soft soils. IUCN. — Not evaluated. REFERENCE. — Faizi et al. (2017). Calcareous mountains and mountain foothills void of any vegetation except isolated scattered shrubs of Peganum (Zygophyllaceae) under and inside which the lizards take refuge. REMARKS. Only a field number given, P168.</p> <p>TYPE LOCALITY. 60 km NE of Kermanshah, Kermanshah Prov., Iran.</p> <p>DISTRIBUTION. Endemic to Iran.</p> <p>DISTRIBUTION IN IRAN. Fig. 99. Apart from two localities in Kermanshah Prov. known from the locality Qorveh in Kordestan Prov.</p> <p> HABITAT. Highland steppe in the Zagros Mountains at 1800 m elevation with luxuriant vegetation of <i>Amigdalus</i>, <i>Artemisia</i>, <i>Astragalus</i>, <i>Euphorbia</i> and various grass species.</p> <p> REMARKS. A member of the <i>E. persica</i> species complex. It belongs together with a central Zagros population of <i>E. persica</i> and an undescribed species from Ardabil Prov. to a basal group sister to the remaining <i>E. persica</i> complex populations (Rastegar-Pouyani <i>et al.</i> 2010b). Since the gender of <i>Eremias</i> is feminine (Sindaco <i>et al.</i> 2013), the name should be spelled as ‘ <i>montana</i> ’, not ‘ <i>montanus</i> ’ as it appears in the original description.</p> <p> REFERENCES. Known only from the type locality and its vicinity. HABITAT. Sandy and stony hills with luxuriant bushes including Alhagi, Artemisia, Astragalus, Euphorbia, Tamarix, and Zygophyllum. REMARKS. The type locality lies about 7 km E of the borders with Iraq, therefore the occurrence of A. nilsoni in Iraq can be expected. REFERENCES.
