Yakutia sukachevae gen. et sp. nov. (Mordellidae), the first fossil Coleoptera from Upper Cretaceous amber of Yakutia, eastern Russia
Cretaceous amber faunas of North Asia are well-known from Taymyr, but the Santonian floras of Taymyrare virtually unstudied. Conversely, the Cenomanian floras of Yakutia are well-studied, but the amber fauna of Yakutia remains unknown. Yakutia sukachevae gen. et sp. nov. is described from Cenomanian(~95 Ma) retinite from Yakutia (Russia). The specimen is one of the oldest known mordellid fossil in amber, and the first recorded from Yakutian amber. The taxon appears “less mordellid-like” than all other known fossil Mordellidae, primarily due to the slightly dorsally compressed habitus, the less strongly developed, distinctly transverse coxal plate, and the slightly serrate, tetratomid-like antennae. Yakutiasukachevae is assigned to Mordellidae primarily based on the presence of the proepisternal suture separating the pronotal disc and proepisterna, the hemispherical head, the expanded coxal plate and the obliquely truncated hind tibiae

Goriresina fungifora Matalin & Perkovsky & Vasilenko 2021, new species
<i>Goriresina fungifora</i>, new species <p> <b>Type material.</b> Holotype female SIZK L-813, Voronki, Rovno amber, late Eocene (Figs 1, 2).</p> <p> <b>Preservation status.</b> The inclusion is in a large, flat and clear piece of amber. Legs are entirely complete, only the apex of the right mesofemur and the base of the right mesotibia being damaged. Most dorsal surface of the right elytron is not visible. Probably as a result of microbial decay during the embedding of the beetle in the resin the left side of its body is densely covered with milky coating and is thus insufficiently contrasting.</p> <p> <b>Syninclusions.</b> Carabidae (Lebiini), leg of Sciaroidea, legs of Tipuloidea, fragments of two Insecta <i>incertae sedis</i> (Diptera or Hymenoptera), two Collembola (Entomobryomorpha and Symphypleona), and <i>Ophiocordyceps</i> sp. (Fungi: Ascomycota).</p> <p> <b>Description.</b> See diagnose and description of the monotypic genus above.</p> <p>TL— 10.7 mm.</p> <p>Colour could be identified only presumably. Head and pronotum dark, apparently with metallic tinge; at least antennomeres 1–3, as well as visible palpomeres with metallic tinge; metepisternum, metepimeron and at least abdominal sternite 1 seem to be metallic brown-bronze; legs dark, probably with metallic tinge (Fig. 4); elytra black-grey, possibly with bronze lustre.</p> <p>HL = 1.9 mm; TE = 1.2 mm, LE = 1.4 mm; MP2L:MP3L:MP4L = 1.6:1.0:1.25; 3rd labial palpomere 2.1 times longer than the 4th one; 3rd antennomere with three short setae except apical ones, 5th antennomere with two visible, short, apical setae; AN2L:AN3L:AN4L:AN5L:AN6L:AN11L = 1.0:3.7:2.0:2.8:2.5:1.75.</p> <p>PL = 2.4 mm, DL/PL = 0.54 (NB: the pronotum is completely visible only in the left lateral view; only a small portion of the apical lobe and disc are discernible in the right dorsolateral view, its most part remaining invisible).</p> <p>Macropterous, apex of right wing (Fig. 3) and a short portion of costal vein of right wing with regular transverse notches (Fig. 13), all well-visible.</p> <p>Elytra not fused, EL = 6.75 mm, EW (only left elytron) = 2 mm, EL/EW = 1.69, elytral sculpture formed by numerous small hexagonal pits. Series umbilicata with at least 11 setae: six (4+1+1) in humeral group and five (2+3) in middle group. Elytral pattern probably represented by an apical portion of humeral spot, a slightly sinuate, transverse medial fascia with an extended and downward directed apical portion, and oval apical spot (Fig. 17).</p> <p>Fore, middle and hind femora with five, three and four visible setae along bottom margin, respectively; apical portion of posterior margin of tibiae, especially on fore legs, with a dense row of setae, all tibiae each with two spurs (Figs 3, 15).</p> <p> <b>Etymology.</b> Named after the <i>Ophiocordyceps</i> sp. synnema on the right eye of the holotype (Fig. 8).</p> <p> <b>Differential diagnosis.</b> The new species is easily distinguished from <i>P. groehni</i> and <i>P. cassolai</i>, both described from Baltic amber, by the shape of the labrum with six submarginal setae (latero-basal setae very long) and two apical teeth with notch between them (Figs 5, 6, 10 <i>vs</i> figs 7, 17 in Wiesner <i>et al</i>. 2017), by the more globular pronotum, by the apicad converging elytra as well as by the small sharp sutural spine (Figs 11, 17 <i>vs</i> figs 12, 13 in Wiesner <i>et al</i>. 2017). Additionally, the new species is well distinct from <i>P. groehni</i> by its smaller size, the less furrowed head, and the dense punctuation and sparse pubescence of the humeral area of the elytra (Fig. 12). Euthema truncatellina Balashov & Perkovsky & Vasilenko 2020, sp. nov.
Euthema truncatellina sp. nov. (Fig. 1) Types. Holotype in a small plate of amber with sides 11 mm x 7 mm x 3 mm (SIZK Bu-199, amber collection of I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology NAS Ukraine, Kiev, Ukraine; the alternative abbreviation IZAN is also sometimes used). Diagnosis. Shell very small (1.7 mm x 0.9 mm), almost cylindrical, last whorl not constricted, penultimate whorl coiling regularly and much narrower than last whorl, whorls moderately convex, with densely regularly placed ribs that curve diagonally on the ventral part of the last whorl; aperture almost round, without teeth. Description. Shell dextral, almost cylindrical, consisting of 6.5 moderately convex whorls. Second whorl only half as wide as third whorl, forming a characteristic shape of the first two whorls compared to the following larger part of the shell (similar to other species of Euthema). Protoconch smooth. Penultimate whorl regularly coiled (not tight), much narrower than the last whorl. Last whorl not constricted. Sculpture of regularly, narrowly spaced radial ribs on entire teleoconch. Weak spiral striation visible on some parts of teleoconch (e.g. near the suture of the penultimate whorl on fig. 1 left). Ventral side of penultimate whorl with ca. 35 ribs. On ventral side of last whorl, ribs specifically diagonally curved (reflects narrowed shape of whorl). Some ribs on dorsal part of last whorl near aperture are weakly S-shaped (sinuous). Ribs with weak lamella-like periostracal parts that more elevated in middle of whorls than near suture. Aperture almost round, its margins strongly reflected. No teeth in aperture. Umbilicus open and wide. Measurements of holotype. Height of shell 1.70 mm, diameter 0.90 mm; height of aperture 0.60 mm, aperture width 0.55 mm; height of last whorl 0.80 mm, its diameter 0.90 mm, without aperture 0.80 mm; height of visible part of penultimate whorl 0.50 mm, its diameter 0.80 mm; height of visible part of fourth whorl 0.30 mm, its diameter 0.80 mm; height of visible part of third whorl 0.20 mm, its diameter 0.55 mm; diameter of second whorl 0.35 mm, diameter of first whorl 0.25 mm. Type locality. Hukawng Valley (Kachin State, Myanmar). Age. Early Cenomanian. Etymology. The species is named after the extant genus Truncatellina Lowe, 1852 (Stylommatophora), which has a similar shell, acknowledging the convergence in the different lineages of gastropods on land. Remarks. There is a bubble in the amber in front of the aperture that almost completely covers it. However, the bubble is not pressed closely to the shell and the aperture is largely observable from the sides with distortion.
