Abstract The paper investigates the relationship between police and leftist activists in Denmark, focusing on situations of unjust and violent police force. It utilizes semi-structured interviews distributed by mail, as a method of data gathering. The questions was posed to activists/demonstrators who had experienced unjust and/or violent treatment from the police in their own opinion. It gives a critical resume of the most relevant laws, government plans and goals, in regards to what may influence the activity of the police in relation to leftist activists. Utilizing theories from Giorgio Agamben (2009) and Peter Høilund (2010), the project describes how a proclaimed tendency within law- and regulation making relates to some new laws in Denmark. It illustrates how a tendency to make judgements and laws based on fear and proclaimed necessity, may affect people, by giving the example of the treatment of leftist activists from police and courts. The paper concludes that police brutality, violence, disproportional surveillance, unjust behaviour etc. frequently occurs against leftist activist, especially at demonstrations. It has found that this is a group which has a high risk of violation of democratic rights, and that certain tendencies within laws and policeculture worsens this risk.Abstract The paper investigates the relationship between police and leftist activists in Denmark, focusing on situations of unjust and violent police force.
