Authentically uniformed "Conquistadores" re-enact the landing of the first expeditionary force to explore what is now the southeastern section of the United States. De Soto National Memorial Park at Bradenton is maintained by the United States Park Service to denote the historical landing site. The Bradenton Missionary Village
No full textThe Bradenton Missionary Village was opened in 1981 by Tropicana founder Anthony T. Rossi as a place for Christian missionaries to retire. Under the umbrella of his charity foundation, Aurora Ministries, Rossi built a village of duplexes around several lakes on 100 acres on S.R. 64. Bradenton Missionary Village had 235 two-bedroom homes, a community center, shuffleboard court, two Olympic-size pools and lots of open space. Residents are responsible only for electricity and telephone costs, with Aurora Ministries covering all other costs. In order to live at the Village, residents had to apply and must be at least 65 years old, a member of an evangelical organization and have at least 20 years of missionary service. Today it is known as il Villaggio Homes, a 55+ Evangelical Christian community, which still provides affordable reduced-rent living options. It is located at 1200 Aurora Blvd
Rod & Reel Motel, Anna Maria Island
No full textThe back of the card reads, "The Rod & Reel Motel. 877 N. Shore Drive. Anna Maria Island, FL 34216. (941)778-2780. Located directly on the beach at the northern tip of beautiful Anna Maria Island." The Rod & Reel Motel opened in 1952 under the ownership of Bill Brier, who also owned the adjacent 1947 Rod & Reel Pier. The motel included 10 efficiency units and owner's living quarters. Brier sold the motel in 1959 while Mayor of Anna Maria, and it continued to change hands many times over the decades while maintaining the Rod & Reel Motel name. In the 2000s, the motel became part of the larger Rod & Reel Resort, with this property being known as Emerald By The Sea. In 2016 the motel was purchased by the Buchan family and renovated extensively. Today the site is known as Rod & Reel Resort. This postcard is courtesy of Manatee County Historical Records Library

Westbay Point & Moorings is a cluster of condo townhomes at the cul-de-sac of Flotilla Drive located on the eastern side of Anna Maria Island on Watson's Bayou.
