Analyzing Scholars@Duke Data via Tensor Factorization
The goal of this visualization was to examine the geographic spread of collaborations represented in the scholars@duke dataset. The goal of the Scholars@Duke Visualization Challenge was to create visualizations that capture the richness and dynamism of Duke research. The datasets were provided by Scholars@Duke (https://schoalrs.duke.edu/) and they describe publications, authorships, and scholarly collaborations from university researchers over the past 5 years

Walkley describing life in Texas.Scope and Content Note: The collection contains a typescript copy of an informal letter written by C.W. Duke in Smith County, Texas, to Mr. D.W. Walkley, describing life in Texas. In the letter he tells how easy the land is to plow and hoe and that he averages about a bale of cotton for every two acres of land.Biographical/Historical Note: Smith County, Texas, is located to the northwest of the Big Thicket, and includes the cities of Tyler, Lindale, Whitehouse, and Flint.The first known inhabitants of the area now known as Smith County were the Caddo Indians. In July of 1846 Smith County separated from the Nacogdoches District and was named for James Smith, a General of the Texas Revolution. It was at this time that Tyler was designated as the county seat
The impact of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award on young people
This report presents the final results from the national evaluation of the impact of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award on young people. Chapter 2 gives the background to this work and describes the research methods for the whole project. An extensive literature review of previous work relating to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and other youth programmes is included as Chapter 3.
Chapters 4, 5, 6 and 7 present the results of the research by participant group. The first results chapter (Chapter 4) presents the results from all phases of the research with young people. Chapter 5 focuses on the results from both
quantitative and qualitative research with delivery partners and Chapter 6 summarises the interviews with other stakeholders. Chapter 7 reports the findings from the oral history interviews with five decades of past participants in the DofE. The themes emerging from all of these strands of the research are collated and discussed in Chapter 8, which also gives the recommendations for
future action.
