Gastroscopy and barium meal examination revealed the presence of a submucosal gastric tumour with overlying ulceration. A Billroth II gastrectomy was performed with complete excision of the tumour; histologically this was revealed as a schwannoma of undetermined biological activity.Publisher’s versio

It is fortunately rare, but is a frightening complication. The necrosis, which is presumably ischaemic in origin, is caused by total devascularization of the lesser curvature of the stomach. One presented with red blood in the stool and had had persistent anorexia for 1 week. The second baby presented with a large tender swelling of the scrotum which was indistinguishable from a torsion of the testis or strangulation of an inguinal hernia. A case of survival after a 0,25-calibre gunshot wound of the abdominal aorta is presented. The patient, a young male, also had associated injuries to the liver, stomach and jejunum. He was managed by vigorous resuscitation, emergency laparotomy, aortic debridement and end-to-end re-anastomosis. He was discharged from hospital on the 12th postoperative day.Publishers versio

Serial computed tomography proved valuable for assessing the resolution of the pancreatic mass.
