    Through Irish history, different spiritual demands in specific historical moments impacts on the legends of Hy-Brasil. In turn, the stories of Hy-Brasil reflects the history of Ireland through its possible position, appearances, items events, viewpoints gateways and monuments. The project is to use the history of Hy-Brasil, a mystical island of Ireland, to explore the architecture of myth, which are expected to be triggered and formed by the current situation of Ireland. It looks to design a pragmatic space by providing a gateway to the mythic island of Hy-Brasil.     Multiscale Evaluation and Error Characterization of HY-2B Fused Sea Surface Temperature Data

    The Haiyang-2B (HY-2B) satellite, launched on 25 October 2018, carries both active and passive microwave sensors, including a scanning microwave Radiometer (SMR), to deliver high-precision, all-weather global observations. Sea surface temperature (SST) is among its key products. We evaluated the HY-2B SMR Level-4A (L4A) SST (25 km resolution) over the North Pacific (0–60°N, 120°E–100°W) for the period 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2025 using the extended triple collocation (ETC) and dual-pairing methods. These comparisons were made against the Remote Sensing System (RSS) microwave and infrared (MWIR) fused SST product and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in situ SST Quality Monitor (iQuam) observations. Relative to iQuam, HY-2B SST has a mean bias of –0.002 °C and a root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.279 °C. Compared to the MWIR product, the mean bias is 0.009 °C with an RMSE of 0.270 °C, indicating high accuracy. ETC yields an equivalent standard deviation (ESD) of 0.163 °C for HY-2B, compared to 0.157 °C for iQuam and 0.196 °C for MWIR. Platform-specific ESDs are lowest for drifters (0.124 °C) and tropical moored buoys (0.088 °C) and highest for ship and coastal moored buoys (both 0.238 °C). Both the HY-2B and MWIR products exhibit increasing ESD and RMSE toward higher latitudes, primarily driven by stronger winds, higher columnar water vapor, and elevated cloud liquid water. Overall, HY-2B SST performs reliably under most conditions, but incurs larger errors under extreme environments. This analysis provides a robust basis for its application and future refinement

APMIS 2011. The aim of the present study was to investigate the distribution of the Beijing strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) in Taipei and other Asian cities. A total of 323 MTB isolates were analyzed by spacer oligonucleotide typing (spoligotyping) and mycobacterial interspersed repetitive unit (MIRU) typing. The largest cluster of the TB isolates from Taipei was type MT11 (MIRU type 2233-2517-3533). A comparison of the MIRU type data for the Beijing strains from Taipei and previously published MIRU type data for the Beijing strains from Asian cities with major population of Chinese was analyzed. The six major Beijing MIRU types (MT01, MT02, MT08, MT11, MT21, and MT44) were found to be common in four Asian cities including Taipei, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Wuhan. Results of this study indicate that there is geographical difference in the distribution of different Beijing strains of MTB

    Improving the impact toughness of the Hy-Tuf steel by austempering

    The microstructure and mechanical properties of the high-strength Hy-Tuf steel are studied after different heat treatment modes - conventional oil quenching and tempering, austempering in the bainite transformation temperature range. It is shown that the tempering embrittlement of the Hy-Tuf steel can be observed at temperatures ranging between 400 and 500 °C. The highest impact toughness of the studied steel for the case of conventional oil quenching and tempering (1.2 MJ/m2) can be achieved after high temperature tempering (600 °C), which also leads to the deterioration of tensile strength down to 800...900 MPa. The unique combination of high tensile strength (above 1300 MPa), elongation (up to 15%) and impact toughness (1.1 MJ/m2) is obtained after austempering at a low transformation temperature. © 2018 Author(s)

    In vitro characterization of [(125)I]HY-3-24, a selective ligand for the dopamine D3 receptor

    INTRODUCTION: Dopamine D3 receptor (D3R) ligands have been studied for the possible treatment of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. However, selective D3R radioligands for in vitro binding studies have been challenging to identify due to the high structural similarity between the D2R and D3R. In a prior study, we reported a new conformationally-flexible benzamide scaffold having a high affinity for D3R and excellent selectivity vs. D2R. In the current study, we characterized the in vitro binding properties of a new radioiodinated ligand, [(125)I]HY-3-24. METHODS: In vitro binding studies were conducted in cell lines expressing D3 receptors, rat striatal homogenates, and rat and non-human primate (NHP) brain tissues to measure regional brain distribution of this radioligand. RESULTS: HY-3-24 showed high potency at D3R (K(i) = 0.67 +/- 0.11 nM, IC(50) = 1.5 +/- 0.58 nM) compared to other D2-like dopamine receptor subtypes (D2R K(i) = 86.7 +/- 11.9 nM and D4R K(i) > 1,000). The K(d) (0.34 +/- 0.22 nM) and B(max) (38.91 +/- 2.39 fmol/mg) values of [(125)I]HY-3-24 were determined. In vitro binding studies in rat striatal homogenates using selective D2R and D3R antagonists confirmed the D3R selectivity of [(125)I]HY-3-24. Autoradiography results demonstrated that [(125)I]HY-3-24 specifically binds to D3Rs in the nucleus accumbens, islands of Calleja, and caudate putamen in rat and NHP brain sections. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that [(125)I]HY-3-24 appears to be a novel radioligand that exhibits high affinity binding at D3R, with low binding to other D2-like dopamine receptors.     Adam Small, Kanna and ‘that moral moment’This essay revisits Adam Small’s best known play Kanna hy kô hystoe (“Kanna he comes home”, 1965) in order to evaluate its relevance for contemporary readers and audiences. The text, considered one of the classics of Afrikaans literature, is analysed from a rhetorical point of view. The analysis includes an overview of several pertinent academic studies on the play, a summary of the play’s sociopolitical context, and a brief background to rhetorical analysis. The article further takes account of the author’s struggle with his prevailing cultural and political environment before and during the writing and publication of the play, as well as the drawn-out period of five years before its eventual first professional performance, and its subdued reception by prominent Afrikaans literary critics. The second part of the article involves the identification and analysis of three rhetorical problems presented in the play: “Did Kanna act unethically by not returning ‘home’ after his studies?”; “Did Dickie deserve his death sentence?”; and “Who was responsible for creating the wretched circumstances which Makiet, who had always been caring, had to endure?” Keywords: Adam Small, Afrikaans plays, Kanna hy kô hystoe (1965), rhetoric.Article text in Afrikaan

    The rare decay b -> ssd is studied in a vector quark model by adding the contributions from exotic vector-like quarks.
