Thracophilus pachypus Verhoeff, 1934 Published records: “Umgebung von Jerusalem” [near Jerusalem] (Verhoeff 1934); “Jerusalem, Garage Montefiore” (Zapparoli 1995). New records: none. Distribution in Israel: two records from Jerusalem and surroundings (Figure 4 A). Global distribution: the species is known only from Israel. Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes. The species-level taxonomy of the genus Thracophilus Verhoeff, 1926 is in need of revision.Published as part of Chipman, Ariel D., Dor, Neta & Bonato, Lucio, 2013, Diversity and biogeography of Israeli geophilomorph centipedes (Chilopoda: Geophilomorpha), pp. 232-248 in Zootaxa 3652 (2) on page 243, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3652.2.2, http://zenodo.org/record/21992

Clinopodes verhoeffi Bonato, Iorio & Minelli, 2011 Published records: “Kirjat Anawim” [Qiryat Anavim] (Verhoeff 1934, sub Geophilus flavidus porosus). New records: none. Distribution in Israel: known only from a single locality in the Jerusalem mountains (Figure 4 A). Global distribution: outside Israel, published records are from the Carpathians and Anatolia but require confirmation. Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes. Originally described as a subspecies of Geophilus flavidus, it has long been a taxon of uncertain status and identity. After a comparative reassessment of the genus Clinopodes, it has been recognized as a distinct species, while rejecting the name porosus because of homonymy (Bonato et al. 2011).Published as part of Chipman, Ariel D., Dor, Neta & Bonato, Lucio, 2013, Diversity and biogeography of Israeli geophilomorph centipedes (Chilopoda: Geophilomorpha), pp. 232-248 in Zootaxa 3652 (2) on pages 236-237, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3652.2.2, http://zenodo.org/record/21992

    Stigmatogaster gracilis Meinert 1870

Stigmatogaster cf. gracilis (Meinert, 1870) Published records: none. New records: Ein Tamar (1 specimen 1963); Ezuz (1 specimen 2011). Distribution in Israel: both localities are extremely arid, with rocky substrates, average annual temperatures between 20–24 ˚C and annual precipitations between 50–100 mm (Figure 4 B). Global distribution: S. gracilis is known above all from the western and central part of the Mediterranean region. Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes. The specimens examined agree with the well known species S. gracilis in all diagnostic characters. However, Israeli populations are widely disjunct from the known range of the species, thus requiring further studies.Published as part of Chipman, Ariel D., Dor, Neta & Bonato, Lucio, 2013, Diversity and biogeography of Israeli geophilomorph centipedes (Chilopoda: Geophilomorpha), pp. 232-248 in Zootaxa 3652 (2) on pages 242-243, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3652.2.2, http://zenodo.org/record/21992

    Stenotaenia palaestina Verhoeff 1925

Stenotaenia palaestina (Verhoeff, 1925) Published records: “Chuldah bei Jaffa” [Hulda, near Jaffa] (Verhoeff 1925); “Jerusalem”, “Nes Harim” (Bonato & Minelli 2008). New records: Arad (1 specimen 1963); Hermon, Emek Bol’an (1 specimen 2012); Kalanit (1 specimen 2011). Distribution in Israel: the few localities are mainly in mountainous areas, with average annual temperatures between 16–20 ˚C and annual precipitations between 550–1250 (Figure 3 E). The exception is a specimen from Arad, which is from a mountainous desert region. We did not include this site in the presumptive distribution. Global distribution: the species is known only from Israel. Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes. S. palaestina has been recognised provisionally as a distinct species after a revision of the entire genus Stenotaenia (Bonato & Minelli 2008). The specimens examined by us are assigned to this species according to their number of legs.Published as part of Chipman, Ariel D., Dor, Neta & Bonato, Lucio, 2013, Diversity and biogeography of Israeli geophilomorph centipedes (Chilopoda: Geophilomorpha), pp. 232-248 in Zootaxa 3652 (2) on pages 238-239, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3652.2.2, http://zenodo.org/record/21992

    Henia pulchella Meinert 1870

Henia pulchella (Meinert, 1870) Published records: “Chuldah bei Jaffa” [Hulda, near Jaffa] (Verhoeff 1925, sub H. bicarinata); “Tel Dan” (Zapparoli 1995, sub H. gr. bicarinata). New records: Kalanit (1 specimen 2011); Nahal Oren (2 specimens 2011); Upper Nahal Deragot (1 specimen 2011) Distribution in Israel: all localities are in the Mediterranean region, in the Galilee and the Upper Judean Desert, with average annual temperatures between 16–20 ˚C and annual precipitation between 500–750 mm. All new specimens were found in rough ground with steep slopes (Figure 2 B). Global distribution: the species is known from a few localities around the Mediterranean Sea. Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes. Most of the recent authors maintain H. pulchella as a distinct species, differing from the similar H. bicarinata (Meinert, 1870) mainly in the darker body color and the lower number of legs. However, some doubts had been raised by Minelli (1982, 1983), so that the published records of H. bicarinata from Israel require reinterpretation.Published as part of Chipman, Ariel D., Dor, Neta & Bonato, Lucio, 2013, Diversity and biogeography of Israeli geophilomorph centipedes (Chilopoda: Geophilomorpha), pp. 232-248 in Zootaxa 3652 (2) on page 236, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3652.2.2, http://zenodo.org/record/21992
