Symmetric Potential Lattice and Smooth Propagation of Tail-Free Discrete Breathers
Yusuke Doi and Kazuyuki Yoshimura. Symmetric Potential Lattice and Smooth Propagation of Tail-Free Discrete Breathers. Physical Review Letters, 117(1), 014101, 2016. Copyright 2016 by the American Physical Society. We present a particular type of one-dimensional nonlinear lattice that supports smoothly propagating discrete breathers. The lattice is constructed by imposing a particular symmetry on its potential function. This symmetry crucially affects the profile and motion of a traveling discrete breather. We show that any traveling discrete breather is truly localized with no tail and can smoothly propagate with a constant velocity. Theoretical analysis using an average Lagrangian explains this numerical observation
Intrinsic localized mode as in-plane vibration in two-dimensional Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattices
Doi Yusuke, Nakatani Akihiro. Intrinsic localized mode as in-plane vibration in two-dimensional Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattices. Nonlinear Theory and Its Applications, IEICE, 3(1), pp. 67-76, 2012. https://doi.org/10.1587/nolta.3.67.Intrinsic localized modes (ILMs) in two dimensional Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattices are investigated. We consider in-plane vibrations of particles which have two degrees of freedom. We find two types of ILMs, quasi-one dimensional ILM and two dimensional ILM. Effect of interaction of second nearest neighbor lattices on stricture is also discussed

A total synthesis of spiruchostatin A
We achieved the total synthesis of the histone deacetylase inhibitor spiruchostatin A, as the prelude to the preparation of a combinatorial library of its analogues. Two key reactions were an asymmetric acetate aldol reaction using a Zr-enolate and macrolactonization Using the Shiina method
