Experimental Investigations of a Full-Scale Wall Element in a Large Guarded Hot Box Setup:Methodology Description
The aim of this technical report is to describe the Large Guarded Hot Box setup of Aalborg University, Department of the Built Environment (https://www.en.build.aau.dk/), that used to test the effective U-value of a full-scale wall element. These experimental tests were carried out from September 2021 to December 2022
Measurement Capabilities and Equipment at the Building Material Characterization Laboratory of Aalborg University (2025)
The aim of this short communication report is to provide synthetic information concerning the measurement capabilities and equipment of the Building Material Characterization Laboratory of Aalborg University - Department of the Built Environment. This laboratory uses state-of-the-art equipment to determine the thermophysical properties and the heat-air-moisture transport characteristics of materials, especially construction materials

A practical approach to set up a simple database architecture using SQLite and Python
The aim of this technical report is to describe the use of SQL databases and provide a simple entry point for people with little to no experience to store data using Python and SQL databases. This report is aimed at employees of Aalborg University, Department of the Built Environment (https://www.en.build.aau.dk/)
Instant District Cooling System: Project Study Case Presentation
The aim of this technical report is to present the study case of the Instant District Cooling System (IDCS) project which was carried out by Aalborg University, Department of the Built Environment (https://www.en.build.aau.dk/) in collaboration with SolarCooling ApS (https://solarcooling.dk/) from 1st of September 2020 to 15th of December 2021. This study case is also used for further investigations in the period following the winter 2021
Coating Translucent and Semitransparent Material Samples for Laser Flash Analysis
The aim of this technical report is to present and discuss the influence of graphite coating on the measurement of thermal diffusivity for translucent or semitransparent material samples with the Laser Flash Analysis (LFA) method. This experimental study has been conducted at the Building Material Characterization Laboratory of Aalborg University - Department of the Built Environment, with the Laser Flash Apparatus LFA 447 (Netzsch Gerätebau GmbH)
Air permeameter for porous building materials: Aalborg University prototype 2023
The aim of this lecture note is to present the first prototype of an air permeameter for porous building material built at Aalborg University, Department of the Built Environment. This air permeameter setup is primarily intended for porous insulation materials but could be used for all types of materials fitting the sample frame. This lecture note also provides guidelines to operate this air permeameter and perform a state-of-the-art measurement of the effective air permeability
Basic Troubleshooting for Experimental Equipment
The aim of this lecture note is to provide some basic knowledge and guidelines to troubleshoot typical problems occurring in experimental facilities and laboratories of Aalborg University, Department of the Built Environment [1], concerning only experimental equipment and instruments that perform measurements. This troubleshooting guidelines focus on the measurement capabilities of such equipment. Many of those common problems are due to a lack of caution when setting equipment up. It is thus believed that following the simple advice, guidelines and good practices of this document will probably solve 99% of all problems encountered by the operators

Laboratory guide: How to perform temperature measurements using Type K thermocouples and Fluke Helios Plus 2287A datalogger
Temperature measurements with thermocouples are often used in the field of building physics to measure the temperature distribution in building materials, measure air temperature in ducts or window cavities, etc., and it is, therefore, important to have a good understanding of how to conduct measurements properly to get precise results. The aim of this Lecture Note is to detail the practical procedure of using type K thermocouples with a Helios Fluke 2287A datalogger, and a compensation box system at Aalborg University, Department of the Built Environment (https://www.en.build.aau.dk/). Furthermore, it will also serve as a guide for preparing and executing calibration for thermocouples. This Lecture Note will explain how to set up the entire measurement procedure, background information for the different components, and how to prepare it for calibration. The calibration procedure and the equipment involved are also explained. <br/
