Informal status and taking charge: the different roles of OBSE, P-J fit, and P-S fit

    No full text
Status in an organization is considered a significant antecedent to an employee’s work-related behaviors. However, the relationship between knowledge workers’ informal status and “taking charge” has been ignored in previous human resource management research. Based on the self-consistency theory, this study examines the mechanisms underlying the influence of knowledge workers’ informal status on taking charge. Data were collected from 337 dyads of employees and their immediate supervisors in 24 enterprises and companies. The results of moderated-mediation analysis indicate organization-based self-esteem (OBSE) fully mediated the positive relationship between knowledge workers’ informal status and taking charge, whereas person-job fit (P-J fit) and person-supervisor fit (P-S fit) each moderated the relationship between knowledge workers’ informal status and OBSE, in addition to the indirect effect of knowledge workers’ informal status on taking charge. Specifically, the indirect effect was strongest when P-J fit or P-S fit was high. The theoretical and managerial implications of the findings, limitations of the study, and future research directions are discussed

Media literacy of government leaders in the e-government era

    No full text
With the development of globalization and information technology, the process of government management is become more and more digital. E-government has become an inevitable choice of public management, leading to the high demand for media literacy of government leaders. Leaders should not only have high levels of professional ability and moral quality, but also need excellent media literacy to spread the latest thoughts of government leadership. Media literacy of government leaders includes three parts: network governance (NG), propaganda on party building and regulate the network of democracy. Based on the investigation of current government leaders' media literacy, the author finds that government leaders' media literacy still needs to be further improved. This paper provides the following recommendations: (1) adhering to people-oriented ideology, (2) perfecting the training and appointive mechanism of government leaders, (3)combine government leaders' media literacy with human resource management process (e.g. selection, recruitment, performance evaluation), (4)strengthen the party's construction and management of media

A study of the mechanism of the congruence of leader–follower power distance orientation on employees’ task performance

    No full text
Based on implicit leadership theory, we examine the congruence effect of leader–follower power distance orientation (PDO) on follower trust in supervisor and work engagement, which in turn influences employees’ task performance. Results of polynomial regressions on 526 dyads supported the congruence effect hypothesis. The results show that (1) the congruence of leader–follower PDO leads to better performance; (2) under the condition of congruence, subordinate task performance is higher when leader–follower PDO matching in low–low ratings congruence than it is in high–high ratings congruence; (3) under the condition of asymmetrical incongruence, the follower had higher task performance when a leader’s PDO is lower than a follower’s PDO; (4) trust in supervisor and the work engagement mediate the effect of congruence of leader–follower PDO on employees’ task performance; (5) trust in supervisor also mediates the effect of congruence of leader–follower PDO on employees’ work engagement

The Precursor Polymer Approach to Electrodeposition and Patterning of Conjugated Polymer Ultrathin Films

    No full text
ABSTRACTIn this paper, we report strategies for electrodepositing and patterning ultrathin films of conjugated polymers on flat electrode surfaces using the precursor polymer approach. This involves a rational synthesis design of the precursor polymer followed by careful electrodeposition and characterization of ultrathin films on conducting substrates. This has resulted in the preparation of smooth, high optical quality films, which should be important for applications involving flat electrode surfaces in devices. Characterization was made using surface sensitive spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. Copolymerization with monomers, polymer backbone design, and grafting on modified surfaces are key points in this strategy. Novel methods of in-situ characterization techniques have also been developed combing electrochemistry and surface plasmon resonance techniques.</jats:p

Bone absorption and deformity in mandible as initial symptom and manifestation of neurofibromatosis type 1: A case report and literature review

    No full text
Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is an autosomal dominant inherited genodermatosis disease and tumor susceptibility syndrome with a prevalence of 1/6000–1/3000 reported in most epidemiological studies and 1/3333–1/2558 in live births. NF1 is caused by pathogenic variants in the NF1 gene on autosome 17q11.2, and characterized by abnormal pigmentation of the skin, such as café-au-lait macules (CALM), freckles in the armpits or groin area. Additionally, NF1 patients frequently have optic path-way gliomas (OPG), Lisch nodules, plexiform neurofibromas, skeletal abnormalities (dysplasia of long bones, scoliosis), learning and behavioral disabilities, autism spectrum symptoms, seizures, sleep disorders, vasculopathies (moyamoya syndrome, renal artery stenosis) and non-neurological cancers (breast cancer, pheochromocytoma). Among tumors involving the nervous system, peripheral nerve sheath tumors (cutaneous and plexiform neurofibromas) predominate, and 8–13 % of plexiform neurofibroma patients developing malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors. We report a case of NF1 with initial symptom and manifestation in low jaw in this paper and review the relevant literature to introduce the epidemiological characteristics, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, latest diagnostic basis and follow-up of NF1

Drawing on the transactional theory of stress and the conservation of resources theory, we examine how exercise moderates the impact of time- and strain-based WFC on employee vitality at work and then subjective well-being

Impaired nerve regeneration and Schwann cell activation after repair with tension.

    No full text
The aim was to investigate the relation between axonal outgrowth (neurofilaments) and Schwann cell activation (activating transcription factor 3) and apoptosis (caspase 3) 10 days after nerve repair with no, minor (3 mm defect) and moderate (6 mm defect) tension in rat sciatic nerve using immunohistochemistry. After repair with no tension, axons grew 11.75 mm, but repair with minor and moderate tension impaired axonal outgrowth by 29 and 48%, respectively, with a reduced number of activating transcription factor 3 stained and an increased number of caspase 3 stained Schwann cells. Axonal outgrowth correlated with activation of and inversely with apoptosis of Schwann cells. Tension induces impaired activation of Schwann cells, and a higher amount of apoptotic Schwann cells, with a subsequent deteriorated axonal outgrowth

Public administration is a discipline with considerable history, and is also a diverse, interdisciplinary field in social science. To analyze its evolution, discover the present research foci, and predict future development trends, this study applied scientometrics visualization technology to evaluate over 72,000 scientific articles from the 1920s to 2020s. This research referred to the SSCI and JCR databases to gather scientific data of the discipline and the journals’ impact factor. Consequently, paper citations, cited journals, journal co-citations, author co-citations, authoritative papers, top countries, productive institutes, average references, and research collaboration trends were analyzed on the bases of the published literature. This study found top productive journals in the discipline, discovered productive countries and institutes, present the research foci, and predicted future development trends. Through this study, scientific production, international cooperation, and knowledge evolution mode of public administration research offers a clear knowledge map of the public administration discipline
