NewslettersThis collection consists of faculty and staff newsletters, published between 1968-1974 by the Dean of the College\u27s Office, Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah.; This collection consists of faculty and staff newsletters, published between 1968-1974 by the Dean of the College\u27s Office, Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah. The editor of the issues from 1968-1972 varies between J. Byron Sims and Marilyn Pierson. The editor of the 1973-1974 school year issues is not identified. Three titles are represented in the collection: Westminster faculty & staff bulletin (1968 and 1970), The Westminster sash (1970-1971), and Happenings among the faculty and staff (1971-1974).; During the years these faculty and staff newsletters were issued, James D. Boyack was Dean of Westminster College.; The numbering until October 1970 is not clear. The earliest issue held in the collection is labelled Vol. II, No. 1 (1968 October 25), implying a Vol. I. (probably for the 1967/1968 school year). The second issue held is unnumbered, but dated 1970 September 25. Beginning with the new title The Westminster wash, the earliest issue held is numbered Vol. 1, No. 4. During the 1971/1972 School year, the numbering of issues held is Vol. 2, No. 1-7 (September through February. Finally, under the 3rd title Happenings among the faculty and staff, the issues published during the 1973/1974 school year are labelled Vol. 3, No. 1-11.; Gaps in the collection: Any issues dating before 1968 October 25 (Vol. I); Vol. 1, No. 1-3, and No. 6 (January 1971); Any Vol. 2 issues dating after 1971 February 24 (Vol. 2, No. 7) for the remainder of the 1970/1971 school year; Vol. 3, No. 2 and No. 7 (although these may never have been published and be accounted by irregular numbering since the issues numbering either side of these are published within 4-6 weeks of each other).; Arranged chronologically in 4 series.; Biographical Note; Westminster College chief academic officers: Over the years, the title of the chief academic officer of Westminster College has changed. From 1901-1976, 16 men served as the Dean (of the College) charged with overseeing faculty affairs as part of their duties. Beginning in 1981, the title changed to "Academic Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty", and in 2003 to "Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs".; Sheldon Jackson College (Salt Lake City, Utah) was in existence from 1895-1901. Robert Gibson McNiece was the Dean from 1897 through the 1901 transition to Westminster College, thus serving as the first dean of Westminster College from 1901-1913. Construct validity of the Dean-Woodcock Neuropsychological Assessment System Sensory Motor Battery : an exploratory factor analysis

    No full text
The purpose of this study was to add to the body of psychometric evidence underlying the Dean-Woodcock Sensory Motor Battery (DWSMB) and the theory of sensory motor functioning. Secondly, this study added to the body of literature concerning the role of both cortical and subcortical areas of the brain in motor functioning. The DWSMB is a new battery designed to meet the emerging trends in neuropsychology. It combines the qualitative functionality of the sensory and motor tests used by clinical neurologists with the quantitative, performance-driven sensory motor tests found in traditional neuropsychological assessment batteries. The DWSMB consists of eight tests of sensory functions, seven tests of cortical motor functions, and three tests of subcortical motor functions.A population sample of 441 participants were administered the DWSMB, 340 of which had no reported neurological or psychiatric history. These data were analyzed using an exploratory factor analysis to determine the number of constructs underlying the DWSMB. The study found three factors: a Complex Sensory Motor Factor, a Simple Sensory Factor, and a Subcortical Motor Factor. The three constructs found in this study provided empirical support for the underlying theory of the DWSMB, which will allow neuropsychologists to make inferences about the resulting scores.Thesis (Ph. Utilizing the Dean-Woodcock Emotional Status Examination to predict pathology

    No full text
This study examined the utility of the Dean-Woodcock Emotional Status Examination (D-WESE). As part of the Dean-Woodcock Neuropsvchology Battery, the D-WESE is a 50-item measure of emotional functioning. Its ability to predict pathology as compared to the MMPI Clinical Scales was investigated. The D-WESE gains information about a wide range of symptoms within a short period of time.An existing data set was utilized in this study. It included 207 patients referred for psychological and neuropsychological evaluation from a large outpatient Midwestern neurology practice. The age ranged between 13 and 96 years (M = 56.53).The results of an exploratory factor analysis with oblique rotation revealed an 11factor solution consisting of eigenvalues greater than 1.00. The D-WESE factors were significantly correlated with the MMPI Clinical Scales and a poor to good percent (1670%) of the variance could be accounted for through Stepwise Multiple Regressions. The results were discussed in terms of their relationship with established MMPI codetypes. Overall, the D-WESE was found to have a moderate degree of overlap and predictive validity as compared to the MMPI.Thesis (Ph. D.)Department of Educational Psycholog
