    The vision of Pacific literature in this article is based on my research on the Cook Islands and the U.S.A. about the American writer Robert Dean Frisbie who lived and wrote in the South Pacific in the first half of the 20th century.Robert Dean Frisbie se je rodil 16. aprila 1896 v ameriški zvezni državi Ohio. Večino otroštva je preživel z materjo Florence Benson in bratom Charlesom v Kaliforniji. Leta 1920 je pustil službo in se odpravil na Tahiti, kjer je živel nekaj let in spoznal pisatelja Jamesa Normana Halla. Navdušen nad pisanjem je poskusil srečo in potem, ko je bilo objavljenih nekaj njegovih kratkih zgodb v reviji Atlantic Monthly, je z veseljem posvečal pisanju še več časa. Leta 1923 je Frisbie s prijatelji jadral do ostalih pacifiških otokov, do Fidžija, Samoe in do Cookovih otokov. V revijah Artlantic Monthly, Forum in St. Nicholas Magazine je objavljal kratke zgodbe oMaorih, kasneje pa je izšlo tudi šest njegovih knjig, ki prikazujejo življenje domačinov in pisateljevo življenjsko zgodbo. Robert Dean Frisbie je eden redkih ameriških pisateljev, ki je preživel med domačini v pacifiku velik del življenja
