No full textDer belgische Anthropologe Filip De Boeck erkundet gemeinsam mit dem kongolesischen Fotografen und Comiczeichner Sammy Baloji die kongolesische Stadt Lubumbashi in der Bergbauprovinz Katanga sowie die Metropole Kinshasa. Das kunstvolle “Vernähen der Stadt” steht dabei als Metapher für verschiedene Lesarten der kongolesischen Hauptstadt Kinshasa: In dem Gespräch wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie Vergangenheit und das „städtische Jetzt“ in DR Kongo zusammengenäht werden können, welche Wunden entstehen und welche Narben zurückbleiben. Gemeinsam mit Jochen Becker (metroZones).sponsorship: Von den heute 800 Millionen Einwohner*innen Afrikas wird in 25 Jahren mehr als die Hälfte in Städten leben. Mit mehr als 12 Millionen Einwohner*innen ist Kinshasa, die Hauptstadt der Demokratischen Republik Kongo, die drittgrößte Megastadt des Kontinents. Die urbane Realität des afrikanischen Kontinents wird in ethnologischen Museen selten gezeigt.
