Digital literacy and digital competence of teaching and non-teaching staff of Samal Island Colleges
The study aimed to determine the relationship between digital literacy and digital competence of teaching and non-teaching staff in Samal Island Colleges. A descriptive-correlational design was used in this study. The researchers used Mean, Pearson r, and multiple regression analysis, hence, the study used a total population sampling in 108 respondents. Moreover, results revealed that the digital literacy and digital competence of teaching and non-teaching staff of Samal Island Colleges obtained a high mean score. This means that institutions were able to prioritize and provide adequate training to all staff, enabling them to adapt to new societal and technological trends. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between the digital literacy and digital competence. In additional, critical thinking and communication skills are the best predictors in digital competence. Consequently, the integration of technology in teaching and the workplace has made tasks easier and more efficient
Perceptions towards phonetic notation in English language competence of Senior High School students in Um Peñaplata college
The study aims to determine the significant relationship between perceptions of phonetic notation in English language competence of senior high school students at UM Peñaplata college. The study used a descriptive-correlational survey research design. The essential data were gathered from the 65 respondents using the validated adapted questionnaire. Data were analyzed and interpreted using mean and Pearson correlation coefficient (Pearson-r) as statistical tools. According to the findings, the level of perception towards phonetic notation among senior high school students is high, which indicates that students usually perceive phonetic notation as a helpful system for representing the sounds of spoken language through symbols. The result indicated that the phonetic notations were positively correlated with students' English language competence. Hence, based on these results, teachers are advised to introduce and use phonetic notation in the classroom, particularly for English pronunciation courses. Considering the results, students are encouraged to practice reading and writing phonetic transcriptions of words. It will enhance familiarity with phonetic symbols and improve pronunciation skills. Moreover, researchers may conduct a similar study with a broader knowledge of phonetic notation in English language competence
Environmental consciousness and effective waste management practices in Toril Elementary School
The study aimed to determine the significant relationship between environmental consciousness and waste management practices of elementary students in Toril Elementary School. A descriptive survey research design was used in this study, a total of one hundred fifty-two respondents were determined using total population sampling. The essential data were gathered using the adapted and modified questionnaires. Mean and Pearson Product Moment Correlation were utilized as the study's statistical tool. Results showed that the environmental consciousness of students is very high, thus, waste management practices is also very high. The result indicated that the environmental consciousness was insignificantly related to waste management practices. Hence, it is recommended to provide opportunities to enhance their understanding of waste segregation and eco-conscious behavior to create a generation that prioritizes responsible waste management and environmental well-being
Environmental education and pro-environmental behavior among UM Peñaplata college students
This study aimed to determine the level of environmental education and pro-environmental behavior and examine the relationship between environmental education and pro-environmental behavior among UM Peñaplata College students. This study was conducted with 244 respondents. The research approach was quantitative; a descriptive-correlational design was employed. Thus the researchers used mean, Pearson Product Moment Correlational, and regression for data analysis and interpretation. The results revealed that environmental education and students' pro-environmental behavior are high. Further, there is a moderate correlation between environmental education and pro-environmental behavior among students. It underscored that students who apply an environmental value tend to be aware of their behavior affects the environment. The more the school integrates environmental education, the more it fosters pro-environmental behavior. Therefore, incorporating environmental education into schools enhances students' sustainable actions towards the environment
Students' Perceptions toward social media and vocabulary learning attitudes of senior high school
This study explored the significant relationship between students' perception of social media and their attitudes toward vocabulary among senior high school students at UM Peñaplata College. They employed a descriptive-correlational survey research design. The data was gathered from 67 respondents and was analyzed. The mean and Pearson correlation coefficient (Pearson-r) were utilized as statistical tools for data analysis and interpretation. The findings revealed a moderate level of perception towards social media among senior high school students at Um Peñaplata College, indicating that students' perception towards social media is sometimes manifested. Moreover, the results indicated that students placed limited importance on vocabulary and learning new words, suggesting that students' attitude toward learning new words are rarely straightforward. Furthermore, the overall results correlated students' perceptions of social media and their attitudes toward vocabulary learning. Specifically, the findings suggest that greater engagement with social media correlates positively with students' improvement in vocabulary. This study underscores the importance of considering students' perceptions of social media in understanding their vocabulary learning attitudes. It suggests implications for educational practices that leverage social media for vocabulary acquisition among senior high school students
Assessing the effect of school gardening on elementary students' nutrition knowledge
The study aimed to determine the relationship between school gardening and students' nutrition knowledge at Angel Villarica Central Elementary School. The primary data for this study were acquired through adapted and modified questionnaires. The researchers employed a descriptive-correlational quantitative research design and total population sampling to select the respondents, which totaled 289 elementary students at Angel Villarica Central Elementary School. Moreover, the researchers used the study's mean and Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient as statistical tools. Results showed that the school gardening of Angel Villarica Central Elementary School students is high, and nutrition knowledge is also high. Hence, the findings indicated a significant relationship between school gardening and nutrition knowledge at Angel Villarica Central Elementary School. It underscores that school gardening helps intermediate students understand the nutrition they need daily intake. This procedure helps develop eating habits that support a child's developmental stages
Assessing the level of skills, knowledge, and preparedness in handling disasters of Catagman Elementary school
The study aimed to determine the level of skills, knowledge, and preparedness of Catagman Elementary School students in handling disasters. A descriptive quantitative research design was utilized in this study; Mean, T-Test, and ANOVA were utilized as the study's statistical tools, and the sampling technique used is universal sampling. A total of sixty-six elementary students from grade 4,5 and 6 were selected as respondents to this study. The study's findings uncovered that the level of skills, knowledge, and preparedness in Catagman Elementary School is high, suggesting that the student's skills, knowledge, and preparedness in handling disasters are often manifested. In addition, the result revealed that the sense of action readily perceives the students in times of disaster. Furthermore, there is no significant difference in their gender and grade level in the students of Catagman Elementary School. Therefore, the students are skillful, knowledgeable, and prepared enough for such a disaster
Disaster risk reduction measures and disaster preparedness of elementary schools in Babak District
The study determines the level of disaster risk reduction measures (DRRM) and disaster preparedness, as well as the significant relationship between the two variables in Cogon, San Antonio, and Toril elementary schools in Babak District. A descriptive-correlational research design was employed in this study. Data analysis involved the use of the weighted average mean and the Pearson Product-moment correlation coefficient. A total of forty-five school heads and teachers respondents were selected through total population sampling. The findings of the study revealed that the levels of disaster risk reduction measures (DRRM) and disaster preparedness in the selected schools are very high, suggesting successful integration and implementation of DRRM strategies. Additionally, significant relationship was found between the two variables, indicating that increased implementation of disaster risk reduction measures (DRRM) corresponds to higher levels of disaster preparedness in the schools. Consequently, incorporating DRRM into school systems improves the readiness of school heads and teachers for unexpected disasters. The school heads and teachers possess more knowledge and skills to handle disasters, as they are responsible for guiding and protecting students during such events
