The Main Categories of the Thought by Andrzej Nowicki
In the text the author attempts to give a holistic presentation of A. Nowicki’s philosophy. The author, directed by so-called „method of central categories” formulated by A. Nowicki, presents his philosophy of meeting and dialogue, and the concept of culture. He also presents the Nowicki’s idea of creativity as a human being fulfilment in the work. The latter he defines by the term „wdziełowstąpienie”, comprehending this notion as an alternative to religious term „Ascension”. This allowed A. Nowicki to formulates an alternative to the religious, atheistic eschatology. The author of the article presents the method of central categories as the method of cultural studies in connection with formulated the concept of incontrology in texts by A. Nowicki. This concept was to be a way to research the impact and importance of the creators on culture
Influence of air-sea CO2 disequilibrium on biological carbon pump sequestration inventories and timescales
This dataset provides output from carbon sequestration calculations presented in the following paper: Nowicki, M., DeVries, T., & Siegel, D. A. (2024). The influence of air-sea CO2 disequilibrium on carbon sequestration by the ocean's biological carbon pump. Global Biogeochemical Cycles. The dataset provides dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) concentrations computed using the full nonlinear and linearized models under both instantaneous and realistic gas exchange scenarios, as described in the above referenced paper. The average sequestration times under both gas exchange scenarios are also included, as well as the air-sea CO2 equilibration timescale and biological DIC flux (referred to as Jbio in the paper) vectors used in all of these computations. The dataset also provides the fraction of biogenic DIC sequestered for 0-1000 years under both gas exchange scenarios, referred to as f(x,t) in Equation 9 and used to create Figure 5 in the above referenced paper. This dataset only includes years 0-1000 of the 7000 year simulation shown in Figure 5. Longer simulations can be obtained by contacting the author. Also included is a MATLAB script with examples for creating some of the figures. The script loads in the dataset and extracts the relevant variables for computing the DIC inventories shown in Table 2, as well as for creating Figures 1-5. If using this dataset, please cite the original publication of Nowicki et al. (2024).</p
EnIn Nowicki's philosophical system there is no place for the immortality of the soul. Rather, he believes in the immortality of the individual through his works. They continue to live after the death of those who made them and have active lives in the "encounters" with works by other authors. Sometimes a fragment, a thought, is enough to make a work perpetuate itself together with its author. This is how "man is eternal".ItNel sistema filosofico di Nowicki non c'è posto per l'immortalità dell'anima.
O wyższości Giordana Bruna nad Benedyktem de Spinozą, czyli o relacjach: Andrzej Nowicki – Leszek Kołakowski (wstęp do szkicu „biografii równoległych”)
Many of the protagonists of the “Warsaw school of the historians of ideas” are overshadowed today by the personality and work of Leszek Kołakowski. The author demonstrates that there were figures equal to Kołakowski, and perhaps more significant intellectually and culturally. He recalls Andrzej Nowicki as a thinker capable of competing with Kołakowski and worthy of being presented in a “parallel biography”, juxtaposing their vicissitudes and views in Poland after 1945.Wiele postaci „warszawskiej szkoły historyków idei” przesłoniętych jest dziś przez osobę i dzieło Leszka Kołakowskiego. Autor dowodzi, że były w niej postacie nie ustępujące Kołakowskiemu, a może nawet i bardziej znaczące, intelektualnie i kulturowo. Przywołuje postać Andrzeja Nowickiego, jako myśliciela mogącego konkurować z Kołakowskim i zasługującego na ukazanie w „biografii równoległej”, zestawiającej ich losy i poglądy w Polsce po 1945 roku

Ocean Biological Carbon Pump Model Output
This dataset provides output from the biological pump model presented in the following paper: Nowicki, M., DeVries, T., & Siegel, D. A. (2022). Quantifying the carbon export and sequestration pathways of the ocean's biological carbon pump. Global Biogeochemical Cycles.
The dataset provides mean values and their associated uncertainties (represented by the 25th and 75th percentiles) from the biological pump model ensemble presented in the above referenced paper. These include the model state variables and their associated data constraints as listed in Supplementary Table S1 and shown in Figures 3 and 4, as well as the model inputs listed in Table 1 and show in Figure 2. The dataset also includes maps of the total modeled carbon export and sequestration, shown in Figure 6, as well as maps of carbon export by each biological pump pathway, shown in Figure S3, maps of the contribution of each pathway to the total export, shown in Figure 7. Global three dimensional fields of the modeled total respiration rate, respiration rate of POC, DOC, and zooplankton are also included.
Also provided is a MATLAB script with examples for creating some of these figures. The script loads in the dataset and extracts the relevant variables to creates maps of the modeled total phytoplankton biomass, as well as Figures 6 and 7 from the above referenced paper.

Locus of Control and Psychosocial Adjustment in Adults with Epilepsy
Noting that children with epilepsy have been found\ud
to be significantly more external in their locus of control\ud
(LOC) orientation than their healthy peers (Matthews,\ud
Barabas, & Ferrari, 1983), the author attempted to discover\ud
if the same were true of epileptic adults. The author\ud
administered the Adult Nowicki-Strickland Internal-External\ud
(ANSIE) Scale to a small (N = 15) sample of epileptic adults\ud
from the San Francisco Bay Area and compared their responses\ud
to those of a community sample that had taken the same scale\ud
in a previously published study. According to data analysis\ud
using the Student t-test, the epileptic adults were not\ud
significantly more external than the general population, as\ud
represented by the community sample. However, the t-test\ud
for Pearson r correlation coefficients manifested a\ud
significantly negative correlation between their level of\ud
external LOC and their level of psychosocial adjustment, as\ud
measured by the Washington Psychosocial Seizure Inventory's\ud
(WPSI's) Overall Psychosocial Functioning Scale (p < .05).\ud
These results suggest internality increases with age for\ud
epileptics, as it does for the general population\ud
(Nowicki, Jr., & Strickland, 1973), and that adult\ud
epileptics' levels of psychosocial adjustment are inversely\ud
related to their degrees of external LOC
