Il Sud di Tennessee Williams e Anna Magnani a Hollywood
This paper looks at the Hollywood movies that starred Anna Magnani as the protagonist, focusing on The Rose Tattoo (Daniel Mann, 1955), to understand how the actress’s unique performative style contributed to a renewal of dramatic patterns and acting roles for women in the U.S. film industry. Magnani’s success in Hollywood was partly the result of her encounter with Tennessee Williams (author of the plays from which the films had been adapted), whose contemporary experiments and poetic innovations on the stage would shape a peculiar transnational/transcultural South that was the privileged setting and subject of his cinematic imagination
Culture and tourism? Limits and potentials of sustainable tourist development in Gorée and Ilha de Moçambique
The article presents the case of Gorée and Ilha de Moçambique, two small African islands declared World Heritage Sites for their past history connected to the slave trade and their colonial architecture. They are now cultural tourism destinations but, despite being endowed with a relevant historical and cultural heritage, and their relevance for the African and global history, they haven’t find yet a successful way of promoting their cultural resources as a means to reduce poverty, leaving the poor living conditions of the resident society threaten the very survival of the heritage resources. The article presents the results of two fieldwork missions on the islands conducted by the Author, aimed at showing the weaknesses and strengths of the actual tourist management

The influence of molecular weight on the biological activity of heparin like sulphated hyaluronic acids
Sulphated hyaluronic acids having a sulphation degree of 3.5 per disaccharide unit, HyalS3.5, were prepared with different molecular weights corresponding to 21×103, 320×103 and 3500×103. The thrombin inhibition in plasma and in the presence of purified molecules, i.e. fibrinogen, antithrombin III (AT III) and heparin cofactor II (HC II), were studied for the three different MW compounds at different concentrations. The thrombin time in plasma depended on the length of the chain, and the two lower MW HyalS3.5 inhibited thrombin both by direct aspecific interaction and via HC II, whereas the activity of the highest MW compound was mainly related to the electrostatic interaction with HC II. The inactivation of FXa serine protease was only attributed to HyalS3.5–AT III complex
Legal Lay Summarization: Exploring Methods and Data Generation with Large Language Models
This paper explores advancements in Natural Language Processing (NLP) for legal lay summarization by systematically analyzing existing methodologies, datasets, and research findings. We review current literature, highlighting key challenges such as data scarcity and the complexity of legal language. A primary contribution of this study is the development of LegalEase, a specialized dataset designed to improve model training for summarizing legal documents in layman’s terms. Our findings demonstrate that subdomain-specific datasets within the legal domain outperform general legal datasets in enhancing NLP model performance for generating accurate and comprehensible legal summaries. The insights and methodologies presented provide a foundation for future research in legal lay summarization

Abstract
IVF often requires embryo cryopreservation through vitrification. During the vitrification process, the embryos can be collapsed by withdrawing the blastocoele fluid. The metabolomic profile of blastocoele fluid has been recently investigated by high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry to provide metabolite information that can help estimations of implantation efficiency. However, the presence of embryo DNA in blastocoele fluid has not been reported to date. This study shows using real-time PCR that genomic DNA was present in about 90% of blastocoele fluid samples harvested during the vitrification procedure. Moreover, the potential for determining embryo sex directly from blastocoele fluid is demonstrated by amplifying the multicopy genes TSPY1 (on the Y chromosome) and TBC1D3 (on chromosome 17). This opens up the possibility of screening embryos from couples carrying an X-linked disorder to identify male embryos at high risk of disease. The application of whole-genome amplification technologies to fluid samples is also shown to be feasible, potentially allowing more comprehensive genetic tests. As proof of principle, microarray comparative genomic hybridization was attempted to confirm the sex of embryos as well as detect several aneuploidies. However, further studies are needed to validate this approach and confirm that the accuracy is sufficient for diagnostic purposes
